Favorite 5" Blade?

Maybe check out the Bark River Aurora. It's got a 4.5" blade and can be had in A2, 3V or Elmax. The Elmax version is a little thinner (.150") than the others (.170"). I really like its little brother, the Liten Bror, but it's about a 3-3/4" blade.

My choice as well for a narrow blade (Aurora), although as said above it is a bit shorter than what you were asking for.

Edit: the newly released stainless Aurora has a 4.775'' blade.

How about a benchmade 162 bushcrafter almost 5 inch blade. I happen to have a brand new one for sale in the exchange.

The second photo isn't mine but is a nice pic of the knife.

I have one already and it is my favorite heavy duty blade. I'm looking for something a little lighter with a thinner narrower blade. I would like it to be made just we good as the bushcrafter though. I have the smaller Bone Collector which is a closer fit for what I want, but I'm looking for a longer blade and one other minor change.

Becker BK16 for me. Smaller blades or handles just don't fit my hand well. This blade is small enough to be nimble but robust enough to do whatever I ask of it.

If a BK16 is too thick for you, then it's hard to go wrong with just a Mora.

right now, my favorite 5 inch blade is this one by Mark Hill. Steel is RWL 34, handle is Bocote. Scandi grind, and it will shave. It also carves hickory and Oak like butter.

For bomb proof in that size range, the Koster Bushmaster in 3v does it for me. It has a 5" cutting edge with a very comfortable 5" handle separated by the sweetest guard that allows the user to get right up on the blade with no choil or wasted space.

For something thinner, the Tops Dragonfly is hard to beat. The blade is just over 4.5" but its only 1/8th thick and cuts like a dream.
The guard is small but feels good and gets you on the blade with no wasted space.

This thread got me to doodling.

Not that great of a picture, but 4 7/8" tip to handle, 9 3/4" OAL, 1 3/16 wide at plunge line, .156" thick. Or it could be made thicker.

Out of all the other knives posted in this thread, I would pick the Koster Bushmaster. (Changed my mind: TOPS Dragonfly. Thinner is better.)

Edit: Changed my mind again. I'd take the Helle. Hidden tangs make for lighter knives with handles that are warmer to the touch.

Changing my mind once again: give me one of those golf caddy things, and I'll fill it with kit, including at least three different knives, an axe, and a bow saw, as I head into the wilderness to live "rustically".

My personal favorite is the TOPS Fieldcrafter BOB in that blade size.

After several catch & releases I have found I like the following in the 5" range in no particular order:

Swamp Rat Ratmandu LE (thinner stock than standard version)
Bark River Aurora 3V
Fallkniven S1
Big Chris Moose Hunter S90V

The Fallkniven S1 is a great bang for the buck IMO and I'm very surprised it has not been mentioned.
