What is your favorite aspect of Strider knives? For example, the ergos, the clip, the unique design, the weight etc.

I have never had a Strider; never held a Strider. I have done some research on just what the appeal is of Striders because I honestly don't know what it is that is so appealing about them, and people just say, "oh, you have to hold one to know." They can't quantify it. It's not like it's magic. What is it that you like about it?

I've personally only owned one strider, it was a SNG DGG. In my opinion the profile of this knife is the most bad ass looking knife profile i have seen. I was also in love with the gunnar grip, very unique machineing... but had to let this knife go to trade up for a Hinderer.

Hmmm. Not much response, eh? I suspect you'll get more positive responses about Striders from one of the dedicated Strider forums where "never is heard a discouraging word".

Oh, yeah, welcome to Bladeforums! Pull up a chair and stay awhile.

They're basically a ZT 0300 with half the weight and has better looks and ergos. Kind of vague, I know. I only had my SMF for a few days....

The SnG folder design is outstanding. You have a bolt together construction, a solid, no back spacer, two piece handle and a large pivot screw. The folder is also light weight and Strider's HT is fantastic.
Howz that?

My favorite thing about Strider knives would be if they were not Strider knives. If I were to buy one, it would be one of the XL size Ti blade customs. I don't see that happening.

I just ordered my first Strider on the bay; I chose to go with an SNG with Coyote G10, flamed Ti, and a tiger striped blade. I have always found the look of Striders appealing, but I have never held one. I'm excited. :D

Warranty- great
Steel choices-many to choose from
Heat treat- great
Pocket clip- strong
Ergos- several comfortable grips
Light weight- g10 side makes it lighter
Grinds- different grinds to choose fromImageUploadedByTapatalk1364494075.080460.jpg

You will get a lot of mixed reviews here regarding Strider knives. I enjoy Strider knives because of their simple designs yet great feel in the hand using the choil for a choked-up grip. That's my personal opinion; others think they feel too blocky in their hand. YMMV.

Welcome to Bladeforums!

I have a Strider SMF Stonewashed S35VN with black lego handle and it is rock solid and smooth it feels great in the hand and the overall shape of the knife is amazing. If a knife was built like a tank the SMF would be that knife it feels like I can smash a hole through a car door while holding that knife. The Lego handle is thick and has good grip but I'm definitely looking to get a CC or DGG soon I held a lot of different ones at ECCKS and they are all awesome.

Love the ergos......love the warranty.......love the fact you tend to either hate 'em or love 'em.....it effectively separates the wheat from the chaf!!

I really like that Mick lies about his military background to sell knives.

Be fair: he has never descended to boast of his shiv making experience in the Big House!

I'm all for turning your life around after making a mistake, but if you are going to base your marketing on your "career" then you have to take the good with the bad. And I'm pretty damn sure that Strider's marketing implied that their knives were based on a career as an "operator"... rather than spending a little over a month in a Ranger battalion and then committing - what was it? - an armed car-jacking?

That's my favourite part of Strider knives, right there.

The pricing is a close second. :barf:

Now, to be fair, I did get the chance to handle and use a PT for a little bit, and I have to say it was a very neat design. Too small for my hands, but still nice. I'd like to get my hands on an SNG to see how it fits.

...So the knife may not be that tough at all, but it's chunky and marketed that way...

Also: sticking a knife through a car door isn't hard! Not the outer skin anyway.

Wouldn't be nice if we had a world where Mick Strider nee Burger's (Mr Burger must have been a big LOTR fan - did we almost get Took knives???) past was irrelevant and bought on merit instead of imagination? Where you could go to Strider's website and they'd give a legal commitment as too how much force the balde and lock could stand, and you could judge for yourself whether the 10% improvement over a Griptilian (I'm guessing) was worth it?

My favorite aspect, ergonomics and look.

My least favorite aspect, very little cutting edge for the size of the knife. Even with a choil the smf and sng could be designed to have more cutting edge.
