Favorite aspect of Strider knives

Oh, wow.
Looks like we've already started insulting each other's 'honour, integrity, and honesty'. Sweet.
Huh?:( As I used those three words, allow me to respond.
I might have expressed myself poorly, but certainly meant no offence. I meant to say, that a knifemaker dont believe in those three words. That fact does not have to not mean anything to his fans and customers. Be that as it may.
Just as I didnt mean to insult anybody so far in this thread, neither do I feel insulted by anybody in this thread....so far;)
I simply sought to convey the message, that while those terms mean something to me, I fully realize, that they are a woefully archaic code to adhere to and that I know full well, that Im most likely in the minority on that one.
Further more, in a dog eat dog business world, principles might be fine, but might not put bread on the table. In order to build a sound business, one might have to use every tool in the tool box. Its up to the individual where the limit is. Obviously some are more ruthless than others and adheres to no such code in order to get ahead.

Further more, I dont know what is 'sweet' about it.

On that note, I wonder how many people who buy Striders in spite of Mick Strider's lying about being a tactical spec-ops-operational-operator, then refuse to buy knockoff knives because that's dishonest... ;)

I likewise touched upon that subject; as stated, I dont believe that there is any comparison between China goods and buying or not bying knives from a certain US vendor/knifemaker.

See, when you address a specific person in this thread with the phrase, "I realize, that concepts like honor, integrety and honesty might not count for much and may seem like outdated and alien concepts to some in this day and age", it looks a whole lot like a very, very thinly veiled attack on said person and, by extension, anyone else in the thread who shares their outlook (especially since you didn't even mention good old Micky).

It is 'sweet' because it looks to me like another step towards this thread devolving into name calling and some kind of half hearted morality rant, like so many threads before it.

From there, it's a very short fall to the great pit of Whine and Cheese, where it belongs. :p

You will love your Strider! I love all of mine but just don't send it back to the spa (shop) cause it will take roughly a year to get it back.. if they don't lose it in the meantime.
Why don't you let us know what you like about it, when you get it.

Ahh, but what 'looks' or seems or is assumed is a long ways away from what IS an insult.

And after I have clearly stated, that I certainly meant no offence nor felt insulted and in fact respect the opinion of others and their right to express their POV, it is now crystal clear to you and to others, that my comment in fact was not meant to insult nor bring this closer to W&C.

On the other hand a forum member starting a sentence with a patronizing 'See, when you adress....' might actually achive the effect you so desire:D

Mick Burger (Strider) embellished his military record to sell more knives.
He claimed special ops status while really in prison for carjacking.
This pisses a bunch of people off, who in turn don't want to buy the knives...which is fine.

Some of them then go on to judge every person who doesn't share their annoyance...which is less fine.

That is what's going on.

I guess that kind of pisses me off, but I'm not going to ignore his talent for making knives. A persons gotta do what a persons gotta do; who knows what his motives were for carjacking? Maybe he was carjacking and selling the stolen cars to make money so he can go home and feed his kids and give them a roof over their head? Or maybe he was just being greedy and wanted more money... Whatever his motives were, they're behind him now and it looks like he's trying to live a different life by making a living off of selling knives. We all have things we are not proud of, and we've all f**ked up at one time or another; forgive and forget.

I don't think anyone should go around judging and putting down other people while thinking that they themselves are a flawless human being.

That's my POV on all of this drama.

I'm a relative newcomer to Strider knives after watching and reading numerous reviews and long since getting over the thought of spending multiples of hundreds of dollars on a knife, let alone a folder, and on top of that all the situations surrounding Mick Strider and company's reputation and that whole drama, some of which was recorded on this forum.
For me, the plain flat-ground spear point lego gripped SMF is a great knife and one of my favored in daily carry and use. No matter how it came to be designed, how all its elements came together, whatever ingenuity, sorcery, or subterfuge was involved, for my hands it is near perfect. I love the choil, it makes it a knife that doesn't want to cut its user with the control it lends the user to safely stow the blade one-handed. Although the SMF may not have an official manual of arms, I love the variability of opening and hold positions, and the nice blocky grip can't be written off until felt in the hand. The pivot is very stout, and I don't really need a special tool to adjust it. Maybe because my SMF's have the new lock face, they break in very smoothly, and the blade rides in and out like glass.
That being said, it's like having that one favorite song on a music album. I really only like the plain flat-ground lego SMF; have held and found gunner grips and CC's both too thin, and for me SNG's are too small, and tanto's and 3/4 hollow grinds don't add much performance to the original, at least for me, for now.

And the OP has yet to respond or even make a second post anywhere on the forum. I 'spect he's kinda proud of the long thread he caused but it's really like shooting fish in a barrel. No challenge there at all.

It would be ironic if some counterfeit or Prc knock off would be hyped by Nutnfancy Pants ....
The Strider boys could get upset about "stolen intellectual property"
Maybe LT could import them and we could have the ultimate bf thread...
when is this going to W&C???

My first strider has great fit and finish, I said I would never spend that kinda money on a knife but I bit the bullet and got one, I gotta say the sng is a really nice knife, lockup is rock solid, the z-wear steel is supposed to be the german version of 3v so thats a plus, I thrashed on the knife a little yesterday cutting up anything I could find and the knife held up just fine. I've been constantly opening and closing the knife since I got it and it has a tiny tiny tiny amount of side to side play, I dunno if it was brand new but either way I ordered the pivot tool and it should correct the slight wiggle, It's nothing major, I'm just a little O.C.D. about blade play so I bought the tool and to correct the issue, but the ergos are great, I like the big choil, It comes in pretty handy during certain cutting tasks. As far as lying about being in the military, I too am an infantry Vet, and yeah it does piss me off when people lie about that, but I encounter it all the time, I thought this thread was about strider knives not striders maker....

Controversy aside, I am surprised that your new Strider has any blade play at all, and that you actually had to "buy a tool" to correct the issue.

For the money people pay, you would think they could include a tool to adjust it.
Now I am truly unimpressed.
