Favorite Bark River?

I have sold a couple knives, and now have the fever bad for a BR. I was wondering what is your favorite model? What is your favorite handle material? Kinda got my eye on the Aurora, Nebula, Highland, and Kephart. Probably can only afford one now.

Right now its a tie for me...the Aurora and Bravo1..you pick the color.

I bought the Woodland when Mike started BRKT. Had to wait three months as they hadn't even started making the Woodland's yet.

Since then its been one of my favorites. Small enough to carry in a coat pocket but big enough to be useful. It now comes with a lanyard tube at the back. Mine has only the two hollow pins.

Since the Highland is the bigger version, I'd be happy with that one if I were looking for a 4" BRKT.

I don't have many Bark Rivers left. The ones that I kept are the ones that I prefer: Bravo-1, Aurora, and a Wolf River for the kitchen.

So far I've enjoyed the Kephart and aurora a lot, but after extended use I found things that didn't suit me about them. The northstar/fox river puts me off due to size alone, but that makes the fox river magnum the next most interesting barkie to me (though it exceeds the max size I normally will carry as a main belt knife).

I have the Fox River Magnum that was in the passaround. Thanks Tony! It is an excellent knife and not too long to carry at all.

How's the handle compare to the standard fox river?

Edit: Nevermind, found some good pics in a passaround thread.

My favorite BRK is an upswept fingerling--a copy of the Schrade sharpfinger, but better than the original.

Of the knives you mention the Aurora is hard to beat.

If you’re a hunter the Highland Special is a real winner.

But for me the perfect all-arounder is the Recurve Fox River, a 2008 Custom that has a more central point then the Fox River and features a contoured handle and a slight recurve to the cutting edge.

my two favorites right now are the bravo 2 as an all round camp knife and the golok for larger chores.

i have a mikro canadian II in the mail to be piggy backed on the golok.

good luck on your quest for a new barkie.

To me the Aurora seems the handiest. The lack of choil and ricasso does it for me.
I am really getting annoyed when trying to work with knives and the ricasso gets in my way.
Just my worthless two pennies.

I have quite a few of them and I'm veering towards the smaller knives as the ones I find most useful.Althought the Woodland is the exception here, this one I don't like and have barely used,it's too thick for its small size in my view.Very well made though.

I'm really keen on their PSK which although small is well up for many emergency tasks and so handy. The PSK is not in production but will be put out again in 09. Also I like the Escort (despite the naff name, sex services or a crap car...)which is a moderate size and I carry it a lot (sheath could be better!) Finally, a recent model the Pro Scalpel II has outstanding ergonomics and can serve many roles, this is in carbon unlike the other which are stainless.I find BRKT stainless to be exceptionally good and tend to prefer it over their fine A2,just preference.

i think my favorite BRKT is my little creek... it's such a cool knife.. capable of handling big chores, for such a small knife.... i think the Bravo-1 is my next favorite...:)

Is the nebula just an aurora with a hidden tang? The nebulas handle was too narrow for me.
I really like my fox river a lot.

No, the Aurora has an A2 Tool Steel blade (not 12C27 Stainless), a full height convex grind (not Scandi with convex edge), and a fuller handle.

This one of course! My faithful companion on numerous courses so far. Never failed me once!

It's a toss-up for me. Of the three Bark Rivers that I own.

The Canadian Sportsman II is a fabulous filet knife that pulls extra duty in the kitchen for meat prep.

The Canadian Camp knife has been a fabulous backpacking blade this past summer, it dealt with everything from fire prep to food prep and handled everything just fine.

My current favorite is the Cumberland Trail, it does everything the Canadian Camp Knife did but with the 12c27 it outshines the CC in the kitchen.

If you can find one, my recommendation is the Cumberland Trail.
