Favorite blade shape

I love the look of a clip point, but for every day use a straight edge, Sheeps , Lambs foot or Wharnie are my favorite. and what I carry every day.
The more I learn about knives, I become more inclined to feel that a modified Sheeps or Wharnie is capable of most task I would ever ask of it.
Give me a drop point fixed blade for field use. A Victorinox Cadet as a basic gents knife, and something like an Insingo (but cheaper) as my EDC. I could live with that.
A long time friend has an older Benchmade sheepsfoot that he carries everywhere. Jeans or a suit, still the same full size Griptilian. It's fun to see him in a suit and tie and pull the thing out of his pocket.

I like the dropped point for a hunting knife and have a lot of them in my collection. For folders I look for a keen point more than anything as that functions best for me. My favorite blade shape is the spear point of the Benchmade Stryker. My favorite folder is the Spyderco PM2, it isn't really a spear point but does have a keen point. I also like and carry the Spyderco Military and Manix 2. I have a few fixed blades with points such as Bradford Guardian.

When I was starting in knife collecting a lot of fixed blades were clip point, almost a bowie point. I really didn't like the looks of them, I liked the looks of drop points better. I think a drop point is better for hunting use but for utility use I've sort of come full circle and I think the clip point is more functional.

:) I love variety and can use most blades for utility , good enough to get by . I do prefer pointy along with slashing / slicing potential .

Most fighting knives can also work as chore tools , but some are very awkward . e.g. : A narrow double edged dagger is not best for utility use .

What works best is specific to the particular task , user skill and preference .

I personally like wharncliffes and Japanese tantos. I'd say that the Jon Graham Razel shape is an ideal blade that adds even more utility to regular wharncliffes, but those are pretty much limited to knives from Jon so I wouldn't class that as a general blade shape.

Tossup between a clip point & a persian style blade.

Two of my current favorites are the ZT 0460 and the Pena X series Lanny's Clip (by Reate)...

I've tried several times to carry one blade, one shape, it never lasts long. Eventually I always fall back on two knives two shapes.

With me it was just the opposite. I used to love a clip point blade. Now I try to avoid them in favor of drop points.

I still own a few clip point blades though. Two that come to mind are my Buck 112 Ranger and my fathers Western W36 hunting knife. I don't really care for the W36 but,
because it was my father's, I will never part with it. The Buck rarely gets carried; maybe I'll send it in and have Buck install a DP blade.
