What are your favorite ways to pass time while in camp? Have you developed any camp hobbies? Mine typically consist of carving various things, and making fire in different ways.
Just thought it would be interesting to see what you guys have come up with.

Not sure that these are my favourite camp things but they are definitely camp....:D

- Burning marshmallow over fire for kidz
- Putting band-aids on kidz
- Going back and forth to the toilet with kidz

Oh well...you get the idea...

Sorry buddy just messin, I guess drinking beer and chillin place quite high on my list. Having a fire going is a must so you can throw some burgers and stuff on !!!!!

Whittling, playing with the fire (I'm a camp fire pyro!), reading, taking pictures.

Pit, that is nasty!

I like to explore and take pics, cut stuff, practice making fire, and I read a lot.

When I am with my son we like to play cribbage. Other than that I bring a book and practice killing bait because I couldn't catch a fish if you had a gun to my head.

If I'm not hiking, I'm usually cooking or sleeping, occasionally reviewing maps or doing minor gear repair. On shorter trips in the past two years, I have rediscovered casual fishing.

Chatting is probably highest on the list. I'll generally whittle up a few things for around camp (usually things like cloths pins for the cloths line). Hiking is always fun.

I usually don't spend much time around camp, especially when there's hiking, paddling, or fishing to be done. When I do find myself with some time to kill during daylight (and when I'm not prepping food), I like to practice fire making techniques, whittle, and / or just relax and keep my eyes peeled for local wildlife. During the evening, I like to enjoy a cigar.

In the future, though, I think I well spend some quiet moments trying to erase that pic pitdog posted from my memory. ;)

All the best,

- Mike

Well, when not out shooting, hiking, or fishing I like to read and to prep for the nights meal. I usually have a throwing knife and a hawk if I'm not backpacking so I'll play with those sometimes. I'm also into martial arts so I like to do a little solo training in the mornings.

Just being out in the fresh air and away from civilization is my favorite thing. :)

That being said I love reading in front of the fire. The fire is my other favorite thing. Especially so if it's matchless. :D

Stting there looking at that fire does it for me. Love the sound and smell of a good burning fire. Whittling with my Breeden PSKK or Gossman PSK, and enjoying a fine cigar. Nothing better:)

If you're talking about the daytime, I'd rather be in a canoe, paddling or just 'going with the flow'. At night, sitting with my buddies sucking back some kind of 'demon rum'.
