Favorite Camp Things

Whittling a stick down to nothing and starting the process over with another stick.

Sitting around the fire watching the flames.

Talking/laughing with friends.

Smoking a cheap cigar while drinking some sort of nice booze.

Watching the stars come out one by one and marvelling at the number I can see on a clear night away from most light pollution.

Reading some Edward Abbey, fiction or nonfiction -- doesn't matter.

Skipping stones in the water.

Soaking my feet in a cool mountain stream.

Skinny-dipping.

Zipping sleeping bags together for after-skinny-dipping fun with the wife.

Ahh, the great outdoors!:D

Fish, canoe and hike.. I whittle some during quiet moments (mostly spoons) and work on forgiving Pitdog for the wrongness that he has perpetrated in the hallowed halls of WS&S....

Fishing, canoeing, putzing around with the camp, maybe sift for fossil sharks teeth, do a little gold panning, when the sun sets sit around the fire, play the ukulele or guitar. I'll whittle or weave little pine needle baskets. Depends on what is available or inspires me.

Fire is the ultimate amusement for me.
I never look at fire enough.

I'd say having a good drink while carving a spoon by the fire is on the top of my list.

Late night fishing and taking in the stars on a clear night....If I'm just camping and not hiking I enjoy the fine art or incinerating an all beef dog til it's done just right:D

Fishing, swimming, swatting skeeters, failing at carving projects, looking for snakes and gators, and swatting skeeters.

For that pit needs a time out.
BAD, BAD, BAD PIT
I am sure Maisy will be seriously disappointed when she hears of this

(1) Convincing the girlfriend that there's not enough water in the solar shower or Zodi camp shower for separate showers, so "team showering" will be necessary (and environmentally sound!).;)

(2) Also, building a really great fire pit. One of my camping friends is an engineer and his father is a general contractor with a lot of masonry experience, so it's nearly impossible for me to build the best fire pit. But I keep trying!

(3) Completing a truly excellent tarp set. One that stops the rain and wind, without catching the smoke from the fire. And preserves the best view available.

I like to cook, and to make a fire. My favorite camp things. (Fishing not included)
