Favorite EDC Folder Under $40

Boker pen knife in carbon & delrin. Hand picked from a local smoke shop. Less than $30 out the door. Surprisingly capable little bugger.

I have 2 Skylines (one in Damascus), but don't find them easy to flick open. Probably user error.

I thought it was just me. Love Kershaws, but cant get the Skyline to flip open all the time.

What about a SOG Twitch II? Didnt like it when I first got it, but it opens like an automatic and I like that it can be locked closed.

Lately, the Case CV Peanut has been my favorite EDC knife and its under $40.

-It is so small that I barely notice it, yet it can handle a large number of tasks.

-I like having two different blades. One blade is always hair popping sharp and the other one does the really dirty work.

-The CV steel takes a really dark [lime-forced] patina that adds a unique character to the knife.

-Its a great knife to pull out in front of non-knife people.

I have to thank our member Jacknife for turning me onto this traditional pattern.:cool:

Its "the little knife that could..." :p

Boker Trance DP

Slim, lightweight design with frame lock + a secure and comfortable handle.

Any of my Vic SAKs,because they are so darn handy for many things. For a large folder I like the Buck 110,it's a great value and I like tradition.

Well, I got my buck mayo northshore 173 for under 40 bucks and I can easily say it is one of the nicest knives I have gotten for that price. The fit and finish is great, and it is the exact same size as the buck mayo TNT, I have both and still have both. I love the 420HC Bos heat treated steel in this knife. It is extremely light and also carries fairly deep and does not take up a whole bunch of room in the pocket. Too bad buck is discontinuing the whole mayo line up, they were incredible knives for the money.

Thanks for your responses, very interesting info. My two favorites right now are the Spyderco Tenacious and the Kabar Dozier folding hunter with a thumb hole.(Thumb hole is great when wearing gloves.)

Boker Subcom. Gonna get the titanium version, but I really wished they would make it with lefty pocket clip.

Traditional: any one of several Case Yellow Delrin CV patterns, or a SAK Huntsman. Most or all can be had for under $40., and they don't upset people during use, even while I'm volunteering at my son's school.

Bigger cutting chores: another vote for the Spyderco Tenacious. (Ease of carry/use/sharpening, has the build quality of a more expensive knife.)

Kershaw Mini-Cyclone.. Survived a season of brutal use and abuse on a construction site. Even the spring-assist survived with it being constantly covered with slurry, concrete dust, and god knows what else.
