Favorite EDC Folder Under $40

I still think Kershaw owns the locking folder market for <$40, but if you don't mind PRC stuff then find a Byrd Catbyrd. It's a total tank of a framelock and I've seen them for < $30.

Well, I got my buck mayo northshore 173 for under 40 bucks and I can easily say it is one of the nicest knives I have gotten for that price. The fit and finish is great, and it is the exact same size as the buck mayo TNT, I have both and still have both. I love the 420HC Bos heat treated steel in this knife. It is extremely light and also carries fairly deep and does not take up a whole bunch of room in the pocket. Too bad buck is discontinuing the whole mayo line up, they were incredible knives for the money.

I'm going to have to agree with you 100%. That was the best darn little $40 knife i've had. I lost it mountain-biking one day and actually spent about an hour looking back over the trail trying to find it. I could get that sucker scalpel-sharp. Perfect size to weight. I keep seeing the TNT Ti/s30v one popping up here and there, but $200 plus seems a little pricey for me right now (although I don't doubt it's worth it). I would have to say the Kershaw Blitz is my favorite sub 40 (actually only $25 ) knife right now. Not the sharpest Kershaw ever out of the box but a little attention on the stone rectified that. I love a good point on any carry knife and its got that in spades. Throw in G10 and a solid lock-up...hard to beat for the cost of a pizza and a six pack.

I have 2 Skylines (one in Damascus), but don't find them easy to flick open. Probably user error.

You have a damascus Skyline? I'd love to see some pics! I had a little trouble flipping my Skyline open at first, but now it works really well. I love that knife!

For me its a no brainer between either the Persistence or Skyline. I would put both of them up against knives that cost twice as much.
