Favorite hunting knife?

I prefer a 3 1/2" to 4" drop point. One of my favorites is a CS mini pendelton, I field dressed three deer with it this year and it was still shaving sharp. I have never been a folder fan for field dressing, but the Sperderco Gayle Bradley did an excellent job. Here is a shot of a few I have used over the last few years.

For many years a puma white hunter but it got stolen I bought a ruana 26 to replace it . The 26 is a five inch blade hand forged. First class Jake.

Love the handle

A few more, the bottom knife, a BRK DPH.

It's based on a Loveless design, with the Lamb ergonomic handle,

...it is one of the best hunting knives ever developed.

GD - both of those knives look like they'd be very comfortable in hand. Nice looking bow you have there - who made it? And are those aluminum footed shafts?

Thanks. Both are mighty comfortable. I do a lot of bushcrafting so I had one of those made up too with my hunter. They were made by a smith called Mark Hill from Europe.

The shafts are GoldTip Traditionals with 100gr brass inserts and footing cut from aluminum shafting to 0.10" longer than the inserts. It's all held together with JB Weld epoxy. Out of my bow, they bareshaft out to 40 yards. After that I can't shoot consistently enough to really know if it's me or the arrows making things off.

Who made that knife? Thanks.

Mark Hill. I blued it with some cold gun bluing to help protect the metal just a touch. This model was one that I drew up for him and isn't a part of his regular lineup. He liked it so much that he said he was going to make him one too. I designed it based off of all the things that I liked the best from my 30-40 production knives. It's really a very simple design and nothing all that extraordinary but it's just got the perfect balance between size, shape, and ergonomics for what I need a hunting knife to do. When I first held it it felt great, but then the more I used it the more I knew that this was going to be my favorite knife of all of mine. It's just right for my needs.

Edit. This knife has been added to his lineup as the "small hunter." My knives as shipped were the ones pictured for the small hunter and SB3 bushcraft. ;)

Nice!
I bought the original Woodland (also prototype), the very first year they came out, in A2.
One of only 2 knives I have kept for all these years (many others have come and gone).
I still use it every year, just an excellent blade.

My favorite for skinning, is made by a local knife maker (superb), ATS-34 hollow ground 5" Bos HT blade, red coral micarta.
Having used it the past few years, I sold alot of my collection as a result.
Its not going anywhere, ever!:p

My newest old pair. I can't wait to put them to use.

One Tom Mayo made for me not quite 20 years ago because I reluctantly volunteered to take on the responsibilities as the Schofield Rod and Gun Club president when no one else would take on those responsibilities. He was an associate member and would occasional show up to shoot his pocket pistols.

Tom Mayo custom. Only one of it's kind. There is no other.

It's a Phillip Patton hunter. 15n20 and 1095 damascus and it's the nicest feeling knife I own. It's ground with a really thin hollow grind and cuts like a dream. I know I'm probably not supposed to use a knife this nice but I can't help it. It was one of his users before I got it.
