And I immediately countered with a D2 folder that's less expensive or the same price.
Its shorter and thinner as I pointed out, so same price but not really comperable. An Old Hickory paring knife and a BK9 are both made out of 1095. Not really the same knife.
I dont own a BK 24. Just used it as an example. I have a 14 that I love to death though.
 
I like the Benchmade Axis lock and the William Henry button lock. The former is better for lefties.

I just don't have the same confidence in other locks that I do in my lockbacks.

My favorite is the lock back it is the strongest thing you can get without a fixed blade. Second would be a slip joint like case and victorinox there good for certain task when your in public. My third would be a linerlock because it got me into knifes
 
If I like a knife, the locking mechanism is a secondary consideration, maybe even tertiary.
