Favorite Mora

Wow, I would love to see some pics of that knife, it sounds fantastic.

Here's those requested pics. The blade is stamped R J Richter Mora Sweden (didn't come out in pics, sorry)

Bushcraft Triflex. Culmination of old and new, combined into one of the best mora's I've owned. Insanely sharp, and then I sharpened it, now, WOW.

I second this choice. I have both the one pictured which the Triflex Carbon steel and the Sandvik stainless version which is black. Everything Moras always have been with even better handles and pretty decent plastic sheaths to boot.

I might have mentioned that I got 2 Mora 511s yesterday. I was playing around with them and my bucket o' mod-stuff and I discovered something....
You CAN get 1" dia heat shrink tube on the handle of a 511. Make sure you tape off that blade before working it on (it's tight!) but when you are done you'll have a nice rubber-handled 511, which is a perfect bushcraft blade.

The one she is holding is the 510 if I am not very much mistaken. No more buying them by the dozen. Trust me. I've looked.

Ray Mears 510 is out there. Available only in Britain though. I thought about trying to get a group buy up, but it fell flat. Not worth the price if you're only ordering a few. International shipping eats you alive. Here's the knife though...

I gave away a 510 in W&SS a while back. Still have one of them. From what I read, the HighQ Allaround is basically the same 510 blade/tang with a different handle config.

I bought 7 different carbon Moras not too long ago. I agree with Woods Walker. In hand, I don't think there's any topping the 711, and it has the nice long tang like the 511.

Below is another such pic. Seems like an x-ray would be a better route, but oh well...
I've been meaning to lay some text over this photo so I can recall with ease what's what, and this thread prompted me to finally do so.

Here's the source BTW: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784561

the one you have labeled as bushcraft force is a bushcraft FOREST, which is similar to the SIGNAL, and the MORA 2000 and esp the MORA 2010...

the top model is The Bushcraft Force and The Bushcraft Triflex

as a matter of information, ragnar's SwedishKnifeCatalog lists these clearly

i have a bushcraft force, and the blade noticeably MAKES CREAKING SOUNDS/NOISE and flexes some with mild side to side force. it's a piece of SHIT, imho, and i would send it back to mora for a 2000 or a 2010 in a heartbeat, if i could do so without cost. a $25 knife is just not going to be worth that kind of salvage i think (unless they pay for it). maybe $5 shipping. maybe. it's designated as a disposable knife for the moment. CANNOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUY.

Bladite, check the OP here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784561
I am using RescueRiley's labels. Are you indicating he got it wrong?

afaik, it's wrong. see the ragnar page. the mora 2000/2010 jam/jelly/peanut-butter spreading tip is a feature of the "forest", not the "force". easy mistake.

googling again, i find references to the Mora 2010 being renamed "forest"

Thanks. I'll do some searches and correct that pic if needed.
Granted, in his OP he indicates that all the "bushcrafters" have similar tangs.
RescueRiley indicated he got the intel directly from Mora, so I ran with the labels.

Pic deleted for now. I'll verify and redo the text sometime in the next four or five months. :D

i know the obsession with full tang is getting out of control when even the mora's tang is being discussed. i have yet to see any mora fail because it's not full tang. the one broken mora i've seen so far here the break occurred near the logo on the blade...then again i know if i broke a mora in half (at any part) i'd never post anything about it...i'd be too embarassed at my dumbass move that caused it to tell anyone.

breaking? not worried.

blade flexing and not being sturdy? worried.

blades should not WIGGLE or MAKE NOISE

that right there, is an issue

I can pay for shipping if you need this taken off of your hands. :D
