Favorite Pocket Clip

I've always liked spyderco spring clips. That general shape is my favorite clip type, my Kershaw Emerson CQC-7K ha a similar one. The wire clips are great, but I've had a couple bend on me.

I have an MXG deep carry clip for my ZT0450 but it always seems to snag just before the bend, so it rarely sits flush.

Short, Natural finish.

How do you get these screwed on? To me it seems the hole does not allow proper insertion and driving of the screws. I have one and the only way I can imagine getting it on is to bend the clip to allow the driver in and then bend it back.

I have participated in a few of these pocket clip threads. Haven't bought many new knives in the last year, so I still like Benchmade Arrow Clip, Benchmade Deep Carry Clip, and CRK Clip.

Wire clips are pretty good too. Probably in my top 5.

Dislike spyderco hourglass clips.

My favorite clip is the standard Sebenza clip. Slips well over the pocket edge, holds firm with the double crimp yet is easy to remove from pocket, and doesn't feel uncomfortable in the hand when using the knife. Simple and just well done.

Here are some of my favorite pocket clips:

From left to right, that's a ProTecg Calmigo, an A.G. Russell fluted titanium framelock, a Boker Zinker FR, and an A.G. Russell medium folding gents hunter. Note how on the first three, the clip seatings (or whatever you want to call them) and the screws are completely recessed into the handles, leaving the surfaces flush. And on the gents hunter, there are no screws at all!

Here are pictures of the knives open:

I think that one of the greatest abominations of the modern knife world (other than overly thick knives/bladestock) is the sheer proliferation of awful clips that simply don't function properly as clips. It seems like 90% of custom knife makers can't make a clip worth a damn. If you don't have the skills to properly make a functional, thin, 3D-machined clip, then used a stamped clip.

The Boker FR is a great example of a well done deep carry clip. I love a good deep carry pocket clip as long as it's functional. Too many have screws protruding and/or too small of a gap at the tip which have trouble going over the edge of the pocket.
My favorite deep carry clip is probably the one on the ZT 562. Not the best retention, but most comfortable in pocket or in hand.

The Benchmade deep carry with the butterfly is pretty nice, also the new shorty from the Bugout.

I like all the Hinderer-based MXG stuff and Lynch’s look good on a Spydie

I love the pocket clip on the Grayman Dua. I don't take my knife in and out of my pocket that often, so I don't mind the smaller end that can make it a little more difficult to clip in a pocket. I actually prefer it because it is lower profile and doesn't catch on anything once it is clipped. It also just looks unique and interesting. The knife rides really well in the pocket and the clip does exactly what it is supposed to without getting in the way.

I really love the clip on my BM Grip. Has great retention, aesthetically fits the knife well and also doesn't negatively affect the ergonomics.

Are the three hole clips for the Benchmade the same size for the Spyderco three hole clip? I am looking for a deep pocket clip for my TRM Neutron. Thank you.

What's your favorite folding knife pocket clip for EDC and why?

I personally love the Spyderco wire clips, they seem to glide into my pocket smoothly, and they are more subtle than other types depending on the finish.

Ditto. By a HUGE distance. If every knife by every maker started shipping with a wire clip I'd be ecstatic.

Actully, I think it helps the ergonomics. At least it does for me.
I have found that I use the clip to help secure the knife in my hand as I open or close the blade.

My favorites are:
CRK Sebenza and Inkosi clips
Standard hourglass clips by Spyderco; especially on the US-made models.

Personally, I really dislike wire clips.

I've read that they like to loosen up and shift side to side, so you have to Loctite them.

Functionality--ease in and out of pocket plus retention--is my overriding criterion for clips. Appearance is secondary, though not unimportant, and of course a clip should not create a hotspot in hand. A well-designed clip can even assist in opening, closing, and gripping by directing finger placement.

That said, CRK clips are sublime and RHK clips, which have gone largely unmentioned here, are excellent. I'm a big fan of the BMK split arrow, and their chunky clips, like on Grips, are fine too. I like Spyderco wire clips a lot and am good with their standard spoon too.

What I don't like are painted clips--points off Spydie's clips for that-- and consequently hate almost all ZT clips. They're also usually mismatched for size-- big clips on small knives and vice versa-- witness the 0450 and 0452. An exception would be the earlier-mentioned 0562 clip which is excellent.

I really have no need for deep- carry as I like some knife sticking out above the pocket. I have lanyards on most knives and like the attachment point rearward of the clip anyway. I don't hate deep-carry clips, but am with @SpySmasher in finding roundhead screws within them an abomination. I'd vote for recessed, flathead screws on all clips regardless of type.

Lastly, as much as I love me Shiros, I'm not a fan of sculpted clips. A couple of mine--NeOn and Turtle--function ok, but others are difficult in and out.

Wire clips are my hands down favorite. The 0562 clip is pretty great too.

Blade4sell sells my favorite after market with the counter sunk screw heads, but the wait times are pretty long.

My favorite clips are the standard Spyderco PM2 clip, Hinderer clip and the Sebenza 21. Actually the Sebenza clip was my favorite part of the knife. I also really like how We Knife does their milled titanium clips with the exception of the very sharp and uncomfortable Zeta clip.

I absolutely HATE the Spyderco wire clips. Don't like how they look or feel in action. A thick paper clip on the side of a knife just looks cheap to me. I'm also not a fan of deep carry clips. They ride nicely in the pocket, but usually feel like crap in hand.
