Favorite Production Knife

My Fav of the Week is My Buck Lightning HTA II Liner Lock.
I guess this makes me a minority here...

Probably my favorite production knife ever, though since lost, and unfortunately discontinued by Benchmade so I don't know when I'll get another, is the 69S butterfly. Three inch partially serrated weehawk blade, skeletonized stainless handles...mmmm...I miss it.

MOD Tempest. After removing the MicroTech style pocket clip I drilled and tapped holes to allow the use of a BenchMade clip with a much deeper carry position. It has become my daily carry and has proven to be indestructable.

My favorite production knife is usually the one I am carrying. I rotate my knives and pens. Traditionally, my favorite since 1979 has been a Gerber Paul knife. It is very convenient. The newer design is probably better, but not as light or unobtrusive. Presently, I am carrying a Boye Cobalt Prophet Companion, an amazingly sharp slicer.

If anyone has any information on the 425M steel used in the Series II Model 2 Gerber Paul knive or what steel was used in the earlier blade, I would be interested. Perhaps it is an issue of heat treatment, but opinions on this steel seem to vary from acceptable to good. It has performed OK for me and I suspect it was chosen for stain resistance to avoid problems with the pivot/lock mechanism.

Lastly, does anyone know how the Gerber Paul axial lock compares to the Benchmade Axis lock? A new post under Gerber Paul knife would be fine.

My fav all round using knife has to be the spydie Moran. Feels good, enough belly and holds its edge well

Donald,

I too have a Paul Knife with Cocobolo handles from the old days, it’s near and dear to my heart. A friend of mine who passed away at a young age, bought his with me, and we carried them together for years, till his death. Now it resides in my display case, retired from active duty.

I have no idea what the steel type is sorry.

My favorite for all around daily carry is the Leopard Cub from Benchmade. It's small, light, useful, and nice looking.

My favorite production is my Spyderco Delica. The size is perfect for everyday carry and is non-threatening.

I DO consider the Sebenza's a production knife and it get's my vote for favorite. Carry it everywhere. I accidentally left it at the office last night. Went crazy trying to remember where I left it. Almost considered making the 20 minute drive to the office at 8:30 to get it.

Next in line is the BMCQC7, It was my first real quality folder. I'm really anxious to get a an Emerson CQC7 spearpoint. It could easily be a quick favorite. But always after my Small Sebenza!

I'll go for the one in my pocket every day BUCK HTA I guess there are a few of us out here. For a production filet knives it's hard to beat that 6" buck

If by "favorite" production knife you mean the one I carry and use the most then the answer is the Boye BDS-15. If you mean the one that turns me on the most even if I never carry it then it's my Cold Steel Tai Pan.

Up until just recently, it would have to have been my Spyderco Calypso Jr.
Now that I have a Native, it's a toss up. I love the look and feel of the Native opened; closed, the Calypso Jr. is more comfortable in the pocket.

I will probably be thrown off this forum for this but here goes: my favorite production knife is my old, beat up, pocket clip bent then re-bent and re-attached w/larger screws, re-sharpened to the point of rounded little serrations, Spyderco Police Model. It just falls into my pocket every morning and does it's job, and I love the damn thing! I may own better but it's the one

I would have to be different and say my old old early Buck 110 with stag handle and a perfect edge. I have a drawer full of knives including 3 110s but this one has always been sharper-stayed sharper and felt better in my hand. Can't explain it.
