<----- My face

Every time I see pictures of the muppets, I keep thinking of this photo:

hows this one?

Got my sister a CRKT drifter for Christmas
Mom: "Why do want to get your sister a knife?!!! The Chinese believe knives end friendships!!!
(Real Chinese superstition, mom being raise with Chinese ancestral worship and all)

A few years before that I gave my friend my Cold Steel straight edge voyager as he was using a sak for sd.
A few days later, he successfully defended himself against an attempted hijacking (lucky no guns were involved) with the voyager I gave him :D

He thanked me the next day as the knife I gave him, saved him and our friendship has been strong ever since.
Did I miss something???

The person who receives the knife is supposed to give the giver a coin. But I'm not superstitious so...

Pretty much the same as all you guys,I got a good one but its off topic,my best friend who's an engineer saw me drink a protein shake and said its the same as steroids,I'd expect this from a McDweller or some old person but this caught me off guard...

I've gotten 'How'd you get that past security?' three times now. I work in a government office building, even my BM 707 is too tactical looking around these parts.

"butterflies are prettier than spiders" is the runaway winner in this thread. now CS must be regretting not adopting a faunal symbol to their products.

Well I'm keeping pretty low profile with my knives. I try to not whip out my EDC fixed blade at every possible moment ;).
My friends at the university know I'm carrying a knife and will ask for it occasionally and I don't make a big secret out of the fact. The knife is carried in a nice orange kydex sheath on my belt under my sweater, so occasionally someone sees it. But I haven't had bad experiences yet.

For the anecdotes: I'm not only EDCing a knife but a nice little AA Flashlight also.
I had one guy who just wouldn't get why I carried a flashlight... "What do you carry a flashlight for?" I just pointed my finger at the window.. Outside its winter, and dark after 5pm. "Because it's dark!"

He didn't quite get it... :D

I work as an inspector engineer in the telecommunications industry. On several occasions a contractor will ask if I have a knife he can borrow. I usually reply, " I do have a knife and no I don't borrow it out." To which he usually replies, " Well why not?" And so I tell him," If you were competent enough to use a knife you would be carrying one yourself, The fact that you are a grown man who does not carry a knife makes me very worried about letting you use mine." And if they continue I say, " Do you use your own personal tools and equipment to do your job or do you use the company's tools?" He will almost always reply " Of course I don't use my own tools." And the one that shuts them up, "If you won't use your own tools why should I let you use mine?"

New One To Share... I Think It's My Best One.

Sister Says:
"I Just Don't Like Knives Like You Do, I Don't See The Point... Hey Can You Cut This?"
I Respond:
"No, But My Knife Can."

People alway answer there own question when asking me. Why do you have a knife. OHH I forgot you are puetorican.

I've been reminded of a couple more...

My girlfriend's brother was showing me this custom bowie he had. My girl friend said, "It's not very sharp." He replies, "A knife like this isn't supposed to be sharp, it's just supposed to be a big piece of steel."

The butterfly comment also reminds me... Talking to a friend of mine about expensive knives and he says. "Oh, yeah, like those gay ones with the butterflies on them at the gun store."

Always pisses me off on the first assumption that it is a weapon, and they don't believe me when I say "tool".

the best one was actually from a knife person. i was in high school at the time and had it confiscated and the security officer asked me why i carried such a cheap knife. "so i could save money on a nice knife when i leave HS and can exercise my rights instead of having it being stolen by you assholes" he laughed and gave it back to me :)

But the one that gets me is "Can i borrow a knife?...thanks. Why do you have a knife?"

hahahaha

My security guard at my school was awesome (then again I did go to a private highschool). If I left my knife in my pocket (which i did on more than one occasion), i could just go hand it to him and he would give it back to me whenever I left for the day....then again, i could probably carry it on my person and be seen and caught with it....they would just ignore it or tell me to give it to security guard or put it in my truck till the end of the day

actually i walked into school with a 5 inch (aproximately) fixed blade that i had found while mowing the schools lawn. turned it it. Principal laughed and carried it out to my car for me and put it in my truck (for legal reasons)

anyways, as knife quotes, i have had a lot of people as about why I carry a knife, or multiple...

had one person, a chem lab instructor, look completely shocked when i pulled out a leather PST during lab to tighten a bolt that loosened on a stand......SHe asked me "you have pliers with you ?"
I looked at her and said "yes, every day, dont you?"

i was asked for those pliers a couple more times that year
