Favorite scene from a movie.

The scene in Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind where kiersten dunst finds the tapes of her sessions with the doctor where she's pleading with him to not go through with. The sense of utter desolate violation was palpable in a way rarely seen on film.

That scene, bar none, takes the cake for me. there's a lot of great scenes, but the sheer emotional weight of that one moment was... unparalleled.

.

Great movie, good choice.

that bone breaking scene is cool - i like how he doesn't kill too many - just maims them for life

funny

Ok, if we're really nerding out; get the Japanese DVD of "Kill Bill". It features the full length, more graphic/bloody (!) "House of Blue Leaves" sword fight...IN COLOR. (Tarantino had to trim the scene and put it into black and white to avoid an NC-17 rating in the States.)

testing to try to remember how to do a video link...

I've already given my favorite scenes, but this one, along with "saddest music on earth" is one of my favorite rarely seen films.

Well of the top of my head, there is one that I remember and it is one of my favorite scenes its also about 20 seconds out of the whole movie

Its Doc Holiday from Tombstone played by Val Kilmer.
And its my favorite movie dialog , when doc is told he is too drunk and he is probably seeing double.

Just a quick few.

1.) "I'm not your huckleberry." Tombstone

Awesome, Val Kilmer should have won something for his performance in that flick.

2.) The toilet scene in Trainspotting.

3.) When Brad Pitt's character gets popped in the closet in Burn After Reading, not scary, but totally unexpected.

4.) Quite a few good ones in Braveheart.

Some of these are easy to identify, some are harder:

1) no Luke, I am your Father!

2) Did I fire six shots or only five?!

3) Who are these people? Friends of yours? Now this really Pisses me off to no end!

4) Miranda.........

5) Go on Boris, chop it's head off. Right, one rabbit stew comin' right up!

anyways, here are three of my favorite scenes:

1) the Right Stuff - the scene where Yeager's F5 flames out.

2) You just shot an unarmed man! He should have armed himself - from Unforgiven

3) Yoda's lightsabre scenes

4) the climax of the movie Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. It's a chick flick but a great movie and the ending was hilarious! Also, the opening credits were cool as they showed him preparing a huge Sunday meal.

and who could forget the pingpong ball scene from Pricilla, Queen of the Desert

You know, he never actually said "Luke, I am your father". He just said "No, I am your father." It's one of those super commonly misquoted movie lines.

Although George Lucas will probably release a remastered edition ten years from now that changes the line so he does say it that way.

True, I threw Luke in there to make it easier for some to identify. Still, in 1980 before everyone knew it, it was a jaw dropper.

So true!, I have very vivid memories of seeing this in the theater when I was 11, the adult woman next to me just kept repeating "Holy S**T, Holy S**t, Holy S**T"

Great thread. Good stuff so far, here are mine.

From The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, when Blondie turns to Tuco and say: "There are two kinds of people in the world, my friend. Those who have a loaded gun and those who dig. You dig"

The end of Unforgiven, when Will Munny says: "That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawls at one time or another; and I'm here to kill you Little Bill for what you did to Ned" and shoots everyone in the Bar.

Blackhawk down, when the choppers take off to Mogadishu at the sound of Hendrix's Voodoo child - a classic.

Ok, this thread has me thinking. another great one is the Priest/Zombie graveyard fight scene in "Dead Alive"......

"I kick ass for the Lord!"

Agreed 100%, but there are so many scenes in that movie that deserve mentioning. I've never seen "dead alive", but I have the uncut release "brain dead", so I don't know what scenes are missing from the cut version. The whole feeding scene is hillarious, at the dinner table. The whole baby scene is pretty funny too. Same with the lawnmower on his chest. God I love that movie. Peter Jacksons best work!

From Dusk till Dawn

Salma Hayek's exotic dance scene with the python that ends in her turning into the Queen Vampire.

ok, I can't stop....

How about Belushi's inspirational speech to rally the frat in "Animal House":

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl harbor, hell no!"

And who can forget the improved "Bill Murray/Chevy Chase" scene in "Caddy Shack":

"There's a pond and a pool....the pond be good for you"

What about in Alien, when the monster busted out of the guys chest. That one still sticks with me.
