Thanks Vance and Dr. Pepper! Those side by side pics are much appreciated. Looks like Jds1 (and others) was right on the money, I do think the Little Creek looks like it'd make a great companion to the Bravo-1, functionally as well as aesthetically.

A Bark River Escort arrived in the mail today. It's going back as a return first thing Monday morning.

I don't like a handle so short I can't get four finger around. If I had been able to hold the Escort before I ordered.....well I never would have bought. For my needs, I'd rather carry a full size fixed blade, and a pocket folder as a "small knife". I think my mileage varies. ;)

I find the Escort to be a great little knife.

At 7.5” overall it is very easy to carry; for me it is often my job-site EDC.

It is more substantial then most of the knives discussed in this tread, and I find it cuts and handles bigger then most of them too.

Gramps sorry it was not what your where expecting, but this knife was never designed to be a full sized Chute Knife, in fact it was intended to replace the Blackwater Boot Knife (another great little knife) in the line-up.

To put things in perspective here is a photo of it in my large hand.

It would make a great companion to a bruiser like the Bravo-1.

Here's another vote for the Mikro Tusk. I got mine in BCM and it's an awesome little knife. Pushed my mikro canadian right out of my pocket, and I wouldnt have thought that could be done. And, from my experience with BRKT's 52-100... I havent had any rust issues. patina, yes. Rust, no.

Russell, just another small BRKT to throw into the mix, the IMP. It is my favorite small Bark River knife. It may be thicker than you want, though.

Whens the gunny out?.

According to the BRK&T Production Schedule the Gunny is in the Water-Jet Cutting stage,

…it should be along before too long.

....Thanks Mike ! Let me say the Escort is EXTREMELY well made and very handsome.....lots of attention to detail from the swedge grind, to the double, nickel-silver quillion....not to mention the mortised tang. It also appears capable. I think I have just discovered that I personally prefer a knife I can get all four fingers around. My preference, which is only that, doesn't convey the fact that the little Bark River Escort is both a handy and capable fixed blade.

I'm keen on the Escort as well, but like all knives it depends on the structure of your hands.I've small palms and long fingers and find the Escort excellent, it comes in a rather unsatisfactory sheath in my view but I've discovered that the Classic Lite Hunter sheath fits it excellently.I regard it as a medium sized knife and being stainless I naturally lean to it.

For small knives I suggest the PSK in stainless an outstanding slicer and capable of much work. The new one will be in carbon I believe or that steel BR uses that rusts overnight....The Pro Scalpel II I have is a finely designed knife, bit thick maybe but you COULD cover most tasks with it, but oil it...food prep leaves it stained in seconds!

Thanks for the additional food for thought guys  I'm looking forward to checking out the new PSK. Thanks for the IMP rec too Andy, I'll look into it. I'll look further into the mikro-Tusk too; I've never had a wharncliffe before and it looks very functional. I think the top runners right now are the PSK, Little Creek, Bumble Bee, and the Mikro-Tusk.

can you guys tell me about the bunmble bee? has it been released already? or is it an older blade?

and does anyone have a mini northstar or the Kephart Companion? they both look like great little knives

The first Bumble Bees ever were made last week. There might even be a few left to build this week but I don't really know.

At least two dealers have them for sale and listed on their sites already.

.....what are your favorite small/mini/micro BRKT knives?

Thanks in advance :)

Mike offers quite a range of well-desinged, tough and useful little knives and the choice is not an easy one. I have always liked the Mikro-Canadian myself, even though I liked the other small numbers too. There is one that sticks out in my mind and is the ONE I actually regret having sold in a "purge" and that is the Ultra-Light Bushcrafter (ULB). I have replaced the others with an A. G. Woodswalker but have not "replaced" the ULB. I don't see anything out there quite like it and it was an excellent little knife.

I have a mini-NorthStar.
It is a great edc for coat pocket or belt carry. It is a bit heavier than I like for my pants pocket.
It fits great in the KSF Hunters Pocket Sheath.

Here it is between an Ultra Lite Bushcrafter and a Mini Canadian.

Here's the Kephart Companion pictured with a KSF pocket sheath. Both the KC and Mini NS are great EDC blades.

Man, that is one sweet looking little knife. If I was ever to buy a small FB, this would be the one.

Doc

Gah, too many choices...the ULB, Mini-Northstar, and Kephart Companion look good as well.

I think I'm with Doc though, I find myself looking over the Bumble Bee more than the others. Doc, my taste in blades echoes your's...do you have any pics of your collection? :D
