Blues, that Queen of yours is attracting a lot of praise, and no wonder, damn hard to find though but some fat stag there!

I've got a German Bull (probably Chinese for something...) in stag and it's not bad either.I too like the Böker Argentinian carbon sod,bit rough&ready but a keen worker alright.

swilliamf: You asked about a fixed sodbuster, the Queen Cutlery and Canal St Hunters have the same sort of shape as an open sodbuster but a lot heavier of course.

I only own a yellow Case Soddi Jr with a CV blade, but I love it. It has an amazing snap to it, moreso than some if it's more expensive brothers and sisters.

Elliott - I really like that Queen Soddie you've got there, what is your opinion of it?

It's a pretty darn nice sodbuster. Got it from my buddy Thomason a year or two ago. Has a small defect in that the blade contacts the backspring so it has a very small flat spot. (Eventually it will just sharpen out.)

Other than that one little flaw, it's a good looking, sturdy piece and the stag looks like it came off an antique.

My favorite Soddie is the only one I own..
A Queen in D2 in black.
Great walk and talk.
A solid knife if ever there was one.

I do like my Löwenmesser Soddies.
Good fit and finish, nice wood, good steel and cheap...

Well, I decided to buy a case sobuster jr. to try out the shape. For $17 shipped, I couldn't resist.

Those look nice. I sure wish there was an easy way to get them in the US. I don't know of any vendors here who sell them, does anyone?

When I was carrying my soddies, I loved my Case, but found myself carrying the big Eye-Brand alot. Something about the way the steel felt on a stone, and the way it cut. Like was said, a cutting machine. Large soddies are one of the few knives that are on a level of slicing abitlity with Opinels.

Lots to be said for wide thin blades.

+1 on that for me, nice Sods!!!!

I must admit that I own just one Soddie, but it has been with me for awhile (about 30 years) and as long as I have it I just don't see a reason to buy another...lol.

Ive got a wood handled large Soddie from Frank Buster with his Fight'in Rooster stamp on it. Geman I think. Any idea who made it?--KV

The Brown Mule is my beater knife. The Henckels is an interesting lockback that I picked on Ebay. Its grain caught my eye.

An old, unmarked Spanish 'navaja de campaña'. Carbon steel, 9 cm long blade.

Hope you like it.
Regards.

Anybody like the Boker Treebrand carbon from Argentina? Just picked up one on Ebay.

Got one. It's a decent knife for the few bucks it cost. The edge needed some work as it was left a bit rough, and the handles are flatter than other sodbusters I own.

All that said, it'll cut. ;)

Man, I'm getting sodbuster envy! The Case Sodbuster Jr. should be here this week, but now I have a hankering for a full sized German Eye. The one I got has the black delrin handle, I need to get one with the yellow, eh?
