Up until now, I've only had tactical type folders, or cheap Winchester or gas station slipblades. Well, today I received a Case Sodbuster Jr. with stainless blade and black (not yellow, sorry

) delrin handles. I'm used to knives with 3"+ blades, so I was a bit curious as to how this one would perform. As it turns out, I love it.
Right from the get go, the "mint, never used or sharpened" knife had a quite bad edge. Small nicks on the entire length of the cutting edge, not even close to being shaving sharp. Luckily, it only took a short while on my sharpmaker to bring it up to snuff. The 40 degree setting worked very nice, and the blade took a nice, shaving sharp edge in no time.
What surprised me was the cutting ability of this relatively small blade. There is not much metal behind the blade, and it cuts awesome! It skinned and sliced an apple with nearly no resistance, and it shouldn't rust or anything thanks to the stainless. It slices paper easily, string has almost no resistance, and paracord 550 is an easy job. The blade is a very good size, not big or too small.
The handle is quite comfortable. My pinky just makes it around the handle, and it has a great shape. The delrin seems like a good material. The backspring is decently tight, and while it doesn't open quite as smoothly as I'd like, I'm sure a bit more oil and some more openings will smooth it out. One thing is that it is not even close to centered. As a matter of fact, it looks as if the blade is actually hitting the liner a little bit near the tip on one side...
Overall, for the $25 or so shipped I payed, this is a GREAT value. I'm definitely going to have to add some more slipjoints to my collection.
I'll get some pictures later today.
