I am looking to add to my movie collection and I was wondering what some of yor favorite survival movies are...or movies with survival situations in them

Naked Runner, cornell wilde(?) is a hunting guide in africa whose rich client gets nasty to an african tribe, which then decides to .......well check it out.

Walkabout, Austrailian aborigine giude stuff, pretty good.

Pathfinder, Finnish very interesting.

And one of the best ever. DERZU by Kurasawa About a siberian hunter guide who helps a Russian explorer chart the siberian tundra. Very cool $hit.

I think "Lord of the flies", shows some human behavioral type stuff in a surivial situation.

I am sure I saw more but this is all I remember.

Edited to add "Rogue male" Peter O'toole is an english sportsman who's jewish girlfriend gets killed by germans in WWII and he sets out to snipe Adolph. Very cool.

I loved "Daylight" stallone's urban surival thing!

If I remember the title correctly "The fast runner" is about Inuits, their daily routines and struggles through an entire generation. Another that I watched yesterday puts the viewer through a bunch of scenarios as a group of more or less inexperienced survivors make their way to a place of safety and the wife kept asking me, what would you do if you walked into that? Made me feel good, lol. Anyway, the title is "28 days later". I like many of those already listed too.

The Mountain Men with Charloton Heston and Brian Keith. Flint and steel fire making robbing wolves of a kill good movie.

Although not what some would consider traditional survival movies, I love George Romero's classic zombie films-

"Dawn of the Dead"
"Day of the Dead"
"Night of the living Dead"

A whole new level of survival.

Hombre with Paul Newman
Sands of the kalahari with Stuart Whitman
The naked Prey (I think this is the movie chrisaloia is talking about)
Man in the Wilderness with Richard Harris

If you like George Romero's zombie flicks, you would love "28 days later" It is a movie that just came out on DVD. It is a UK film about a super virus that kills off most of the population of London. It is a much updated version of Romero's works, and not quite so cheesy (Although I loved all his films) In this movie, the "infected" while zombie like, are not undead zombies, but rather humans that have been infected with a virus that causes them to go into a homicidal rage. They dont eat brains, and they dont walk slowly after thier victims, in fact, they run quite fast. They are just raging lunatics looking to kill everyone in site.

A large portion of the film is shot in an urban environment and the survivors are left living off of vending machines and collecting water in buckets atop buildings. Lots of improvised weapons as well. All in all, a good flick. Search google for 28 days later if your interested.

Can't think of the movie name right now, but it's the one with Lee Marvin is hunting Charles Bronson up in the Canadian wild. Good one to add to the list. If the name comes to me before someone else thinks of it, I'll post.....

paleo25, you might enjoy "Sands of the Kalahari" an old B+W movie - Plane crashes in the desert, survivors have to contend with heat, sand, lack of water, each other & territorial baboons!...great stuff.
