favorite survival movies

First Blood , Red Dawn , The Fugitive. All of the "living dead" movies :D probably more that escape me at the moment.

Predator, really neat what Arnie did in the end

Jeremiah Johnson was a great movie, I just ordered the book Crow Killer, never knew that Johnson was known as Liver Eatin' Johnson, the movie really romanticized him.

Mountain Men was a real good movie, I don't know if it was survival, after he escaped I guess that portion of the movie was. I have Blackfoot heritage, some people I know that are full blooded Blackfoot really hated the movie, I can understand that it did not portray Blackfeet in a great light, but still, I don't think that it really came off as portraying Blackfeet badly.

Death Hunt is probably my favorite Charles Bronson movie, the last time I saw it was a long time ago, is it available on DVD yet?

someone mentioned the Stand and Fugitive, Stand had some good survival scenes, the Fugitive was more urban, IMO.

does anyone remember a movie from say the 70s, maybe early 80's where a guy comes home from vietnam and isnt recieved well by the small town cops or he kills someone i cant remember. anyway he ends up in the woods making a bow from a sapling and shooting a cop in the leg etc. great movie wish i could remember. if any of you know pls post. thanks

sounds like a mixture of walking tall, first blood, and predator. anyone see dawn of the dead? that was good(especially the johny cash intro). the DVD i barrowed was kinda scratched so i missed some of the plot. can anyone tell me why the dead were walking. i think they said it was because hell was all filled up or something??? i really like the guy with the l-96 playing celebrity shoot-down.

At 25 it had me waking up in the middle of the night expecting zombies to come in through the door  . I don't think they really elaborated on why the dead were walking the Earth, I think that only people who were bitten were transformed into zombies, I'm not sure. For the sole fact that rigor mortis would have prevented those bad boys and girls from running at break neck speed, I think it was some type of government virus in the movie, ala 28 Days Later. I think Ving Rhames character said that Hell was filled up, but that wasn't the real reason it happened.

Ah more Dawn of the Dead fans :D Were talking about the new version here , doesnt really specify whether it was a virus or an act of God :D
I love that movie , I love the old ones too but this new one is awesome. No other zomibe film to my knowledge has had fast moving zombies like that , pretty cool IMO. And no happy ending hehe.

w2hat would you guys use for defense against zombies? id have a sawed off double barrle with rock salt instead of buckshot( read somewhere it stops them), and a sword, preferably a katana.

I'm not 100% sure, but the thing about shooting a cop in the leg with a arrow, makes me think of a movie with John Lithgow and Ralph Macchio about troubled Vietnam vets living out in the forest in the pacific northwest called Distant Thunder.

Well since the bulk of zombie films indicate that if you cause them trauma to the head it will "kill" them , I guess anything that can smash , shoot , explode or crush a skull would come in handy :D

I've seen that movie but I dont recall the name either.

It's been a long time since I've seen that movie, the only Stallone movies I remember are Judge Dredd :barf: and Cobra :barf: , I don't think I've even seen Rocky, so I'm not a big Stallone fan.

While I realize that zombies taking over the Earth can't happen, I would have to say that it is unrealistic for zombies to be running around, they're dead, rigor mortis would have set in already. The shuffling, I can suspend belief for that, but running like cheetahs? Nah. And if zombies took over the Earth, I think I would survive, but not for long, maybe a few years, but all of the "uninfected" would get bit at some time or another. BTW, anybody on here see the movie Shaun of the Dead? Finally, something funny from England besides Red Dwarf! :D :D :D

well i believe in the book of revalations, it talks about the dead coming back to life during jugement day, its part of the stages of the appocalapse. so if you believe in god, then yeah zombies will eventually be terrorizing the evil people god leaves behind.

Yeah, great movie, but the character Kaiser Soze was right, did I spell that right? I'm not a church goer, but I believe in God and the Devil, and God's son sacrificing himself for humanity. The only part of the Bible I've ever read was the Book of Revelations, that scared the s#$T out of me  . Do I believe that anything is possible? Sort of, I believe that zombies walking the Earth is a possibility, but not as probable as Donald Trump getting a good haircut :D .

Shaun of the Dead was great :D .

About what created the Romero zombies . First , remember the Romero dead movies are a trilogy (I think he is making a fourth Dead movie) . It was in the first movie where they tell us a comet buzzed by earth and started to bring the dead back to life .

It was in the first movie where they tell us a comet buzzed by earth and started to bring the dead back to life .
The original 'dead' film was Night of The Living Dead which came out in 1968 , I've seen that a ton of times but I dont recall (other than specualtion in the movie itself maybe) there being a sole reason for the zombies. It is implied in all of the films Night of the Living Dead , Dawn of the Dead , Day of the Dead and the remakes , that it is possibly a virus or an act of God.
"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth."
But then we have stuff like this
Plot Outline: The survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing the flesh-hungry undead, take refuge in a mega shopping mall
Hmmmm............

and for all of you DEAD fans , "Land of The Dead" is due for release in October 2005 !!! Woot :D *cant wait*
The world as we know it is no more. Cities have fallen, millions lie dead and the end is near. The lone remaining city has walled itself off from the rest of the zombie-infested world. The rich live in skyscrapers while the poor wander the streets. Yet despite their differences, their fates still remain the same - extinction. The human race is struggling to form any semblance of an army while the zombies continue to multiply and evolve, wanting only to feed on the last juicy scraps of humanity. Join the Zombie Army to support the human revolution, or succumb to the undead hoards, becoming a permanent citizen of the “Land of the Dead”.

For what it's worth I have enjoyed, many of the movies mentioned here - with the exception of "The Hunted" with Tommy Lee Jones. That was one of THE WORST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN, and no I'm not kidding!

There are a few mentioned here that I haven't seen, thanks all!

Hunted is no good ?? I was goin to buy it on DVD this weekend... any other opinions on that film ?
