I really liked Cast Away, I even bought the DVD at Walmart. I think it was $8.88.

Is Cast Away really good? I'm so tired of hearing, "Hey Mr. FedEx man, have you seen Cast Away?"

You should have a standard reply of "absolutely...ALL Fedex employees are training the same way, that's why you should ONLY trust your important packages to us!"

that'll gettem'

"The Edge" was good, and the bear/black guy scene was quite funny as well - though it takes a certain sence of humour.

"Wild America" wasn't a bad film either.

I'll try to remember that next time they ask. :D

Jurrasic Park is a good one. Especially the third one. One of the pilots had a Glock field knife strapped to his LBV and a 9v SureFire .

Just a quick side note. The movie Death Hunt is based on true events that happened in Canada's Nortwest Territories. It is the story of Albert Johnson, AKA the Mad Trapper, who shot several Mounties just north of Fort McPherson. His tiny cabin, that used to be on the Rat River is still intact, except the roof, and is now in the local cemetary.
He used some pretty sneaky little tricks like wearing his snowshoes backwards, travelling in circles, etc.

Very interesting. I never knew that movie was based on true events.

Just watched The Snow Walker based on a story by Farley Mowatt. Tale about a pilot transporting a sick Inuit girl from the Arctic ocean to Yellowknife.
Plane goes down and interesting watching the pilot do most everything wrong and the Inuit girl do most everything right until buddy got scared enough to gain some humility and do some fast learning.

I really liked the movie. Well worth renting.

A good one not on the list is A Cry in the Wild (1990) . In this movie the main character uses a hatchet instead of a knife .

Here's a quick plot summary from IMDb - "13-year-old Brian is the sole survivor of an unreported plane crash. Alone in the Yukon wilderness, Brian must learn to survive by his wits, find food and shelter, and brave wild, hungry animals until or if he is found."

I thought I'd ressurect this thread as I just watch a great survival movie on DVD - it's The Snow Walker and it stars Barry Pepper (he played the sniper in Saving Private Ryan).

Very moving film with a great philosophical message on survival.

Guess I'll have to print up the list and take it over to our local rental shop. The guys gonna freak  that or he's gonna  think he can close early. :D
