Why does he wear all that camouflage?

I don’t care if he serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air force, he is still a glorified mall ninja.

I think you're a glorified mall ninja.

I know you are but what am I? I know you are but what am I? I know you are but what am I? ............:D

Enjoy fellas!

Stefan Schmalhaus is the only one I watch on a regular basis.

Sorry, but you are just plain wrong on this one. I know for a fact he has done a few Fallkniven vids. I'm pretty sure he has done ESEE and Emerson as well. I don't specifically remember one about Becker, Busse, Mora or Himalyan but as many vids as he has uploaded, I'd be shocked if they weren't in there somewhere.

He did a BK9 video but it was about a Camillus made knife.

There's this kid on youtube named siberianfury who does some good reviews and outdoor demos. Nice thing about his reviews, he actually USES the knives as he's reviewing them so you can see it in action. I'm tired off all the table-top reviews where the reviewer talks about how they think the knife would be good for this, bad for that, ect. Put the knife to use!!! That's what I want to see. Otherwise, I'd just read a review.

and of course... Nutn... who helped get me hooked on these wonderful things called knives.

In my top 5 as well. Excellent - especially in fixed blades.

i like the guy,but wouldn't his opinions too seriously,he just cuts the back straps off the animal, sometimes the antlers,in his comment section he goes on to explain about the deer over population in japan, and how its permissible to just leave the rest of the animal, so when he says this knife was better/sharper etc for deer dressing, take it with a grain of salt, anyone who has processed a whole deer would have a more complete analysis of functionality, edge retention, comfort its nice to see all the different models though...thanks for reading..see you

I processed my last 2 deer with nothing but a hand sharpened (no name brand hardware stone) Buck knife and that's it. The only trouble I find is splitting the bone at the bottom to open up the deers legs and expose the stuff that needs to be removed. Sorry I don't know the terms but I know how to do it. I just whacked the spine of the old folder and it breaks through this small hard bone, then you're home free.

That's amost sinful to slaughter a bunch of deer and just remove the backstraps. Really pitiful. :thumbdn:

I don't really review knives but I do give an overview of a bunch of my customs on youtube...
Granted I suck at making vids and don't feel at all qualified to make any value judgement on knives, but hopefully the vids give some better understanding of what the knives are like in hand and with some comparisons. If this isn't appropriate for this thread I totally understand.

Can anyone tell me if the links I posted actually work?
Would hate to post links to something only I can access.

Well, he has stated many times that he will process 3 or 4 deer at the time, so I would venture to say that he has pretty extensive experience as far as edge holding is concerned.

And as for his processing, he takes the head, backstrap, and loins of each deer.

He has said in many of his videos that farmers just want the deer dead. They don't care if any meat is taken at all. As I understand it (from having many conversations with Wako) deer are incredibly over populated. You can see in some of his videos that he will walk up on 30+ deer at one time.

It's the way they do things. If the deer are over populated and they are going to die any way, then I see nothing wrong with how he does it. Nothing pitiful about it.

you mean 3 or 4 backstraps/loins,how many whole deer would that equal edge stability wise hmmmmm i`d say almost a half a deer, as you probably know handle ergos are considerably untested in how he processes his deer, dont get me wrong, ethics aside,i like the dude,he does ok for the crap gun his government restricts him to ,he`s definitely personable and entertaining.he also has a very extensive collection of knives, overall i would like to see process 1 whole deer, skin it too, leave the paper cutting for the reviewers who don`t do deer/game ,but its how he sees fit to make his videos, for me to watch or not watch, i choose to watch, but as i say, a grain of salt,
