favotite brand of knife

Spyderco - Their knives are great, but their people are even greater. I know it's a business and they're in it for the money, but more than any company I've ever dealt with, Spyderco seems to care more about their customers and their customers' needs.

Buck - See above. When it comes to customer oriented knife companies, I don't think you can beat Buck or Spyderco.

Queen - I just got my first one a few weeks ago, and they come out of the box about as sharp as a bagel, but they're beautiful knives with top notch fit n' finish for a great price. Every knife on my "I have to have this" list right now is a Queen.

1. Chris Reeve (still blown away by the Sebenza after two years)
2. Spyderco (love their attitude and innovation, as a company, great designs and usability)
3. Busse Combat (not too into the club aspect of their brand, but I have tried their products against others, and they are of superior toughness and quality, in my experiences, not to mention the warranty)

Kershaw, without a doubt. I think their quality is excellent, I like their asthetics, but most importantly I like the company's customer service and dedication to their customers. Other companies are also great (Sal and Spyderco are great) but Kershaw is my fave. After that, Spydies, victorinox, klotzli and Mcusta in no particular order. OHHHH... and EKA and Helle....Benchmade....

1. Chris Reeve Knives
2. Strider
3. Bark River

Heck, I love all makes and models! Just hand me something sharp, pointy and shiney! :)

I am at the point that I buy in spite of brand names, not because of them. Any I have had a serious enough interest in before have turned me off one way or the other. The others, well, I didn't have a serious interest in them, and still don't. Now I just look for materials and features, and don't really care who makes them, except for when their practices are so negative in my mind that I can't give them my money.

Microtech - to me the best by far
Kershaw - amazing knives for the money
ZT - great designs built to last

In no particular order:

Victorinox
Kabar
Kershaw

I've had mixed experience with Gerber and Spyderco, so they get an honourable mention.

1. Spyderco for function
2. Benchmade for beauty
3. CRKT for innovation

Not to say that all three don't share these traits, but some offer different levels of each and that's where I go for that specific trait.

1. Busse (Materials, fit-finish, nigh-indestructable, customer service)
2. Ranger (Insanely tough, great value, customer service)
3. Bark River (Fantastic designs and performance, world class service)
4. Victorinox (just plain handy)
5. Becker (I like everything about them)

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase anything from any of these makers. There are many other great makers (RAT comes to mind...) these are just my personal favorites.

BUSSE

CRK

Spyderco

BRKT

Benchmade

Like em all, and have had great experiences with all of the above companies. Top notch knives with great service to boot

Ya know... I didn't even think of Victorinox. I've had a Soldier with me every day for the past seven years and it's just become a part of me that I don't even think about anymore. It's just there, like an arm.

They may not have the bestest, most super awesome steel of the week, but you get better quality out of Victorinox than some knives that cost ten times as much.
