Hey man - is there a good trail we could hit that would be closer to 10 miles round trip? Also, I got some feedback that 0900 would be a better start time.

Those two things combined seemed like they could work out great.
 
Alright fellas - I need some input for how far ya'll are willing to hike.

I'm not posting the trails, just the lengths at this point. Let me know what you are interested in and we can square it away via email.

Let's shoot for a 0900 start time.

XXX Trail is 8.2 miles total round trip.

YYY Trail is 16 miles round trip

ZZZ Trail is 12 miles round trip

AAA Trail for Maybe 4 – 5 miles round trip

Once the specifics on length are worked out we'll figure out where we'll all meet and I can email out the trail info, etc. Primitiveman is feeding me the information so he gets all the credit for this.

I'm up for a 12 mile round trip or 8.2 if we are able to play with fire for a bit :)
 
Sounds like a plan coming together! Much better than the camping trip I planned last year :)

8.2 miles 0900 start time it is.

I wish I could go, the day is full and I can't get off from work that day. Take care and stay alert for the even crazier and creepier piney like people. LOL The last time I went out there was to the Xterra Pineland clean up event when I had the Xterra. Lots fun and literally tons of trash we took out of the pines.

The terrain isn't that bad. The sugar sand can be a pain in the butt when it gets in your shoes or boots. Maybe you guys will check out Caranza Road on the other side. At least it's still cool out and you don't have worry about the deer flies getting ya. Have fun and stay safe.

It is a nice, clean, and contrary to what you might think, very remote area.

I got a Maxped Pygmy Falcon in the mail and is ready to hit the trail with us this weekend!

I wish I could go considering it is only 20 min from the house but the kids b-ball games come first.

How'd you guys make out?

I did an over night camp out at the Batona Campground to test some cold weather camping gear earlier this year. 23 degree overnight low, and I still didn't have the place to myself. Two hikers came in right before dark. It snowed overnight and made for a great morning.
