They might need the Cerakote for corrosion resistance on this one. I know what you mean. It is the first Cru-Wear. But it's $300. Would like to get it but I already have the 5160 one. Don't know.I want to buy it, but, the Cerakote, again, on the blade is keeping my money in the wallet. I'm not sure if I can hold out 'cause I like that knife design. Being that it is Buck's first Cru-Ware knife. My FOMO is great!![]()
my collecting interest leans more to classic patterns or oldies
My collecting interests are all over the place.I already have the 5160 one
That is what makes me happy. I don't have any interest in this, but a Cruwear 104 would make me so happy. This is a Buck first with CRU-WEAR. Not for me... my ground combatin' days are behind me.
I would be all over that, as well. That is what makes me happy. I don't have any interest in this, but a Cruwear 104 would make me so happy.
Yeah. I am going to have to get all 10 of the new slipjoints later this year. And they probably won't be discounted. Will have to order them elsewhere.Whew, a knife I can pass on because I've already more than spent my knife allowance recently. Nothing against it, just my collecting interest leans more to classic patterns or oldies. Congratulations to those who wanted and grabbed one.
I'm sorry, but what is FOMO?My collecting interests are all over the place.
I have that 5160 issued one also. Eases the FOMO somewhat.
FOMO, is fear of missing out. It drives collectors into buying stuff because they don't want to be left out.I'm sorry, but what is FOMO?
Also, ditto on the earlier post re:Cercote. In case there was any doubt, my post from pg 1 of this thread was made completely in jest. I wouldn't want a pink ceracoted anything. A failed attempt at reverse psychology.
Congrats to everyone who gets one of these. It is a good looking knife.
Fear Of Missing Outbut what is FOMO?
Are we going to have a February BOTM? I'll bet it'll be a 112 Slim Select in Magnacut!
Yeah, right!![]()
I just stumbled onto this discussion right after seeing the February BOTM. I was pleasantly surprised to see what it turned out to be. Anyone else find it tempting to go for??Are we going to have a February BOTM? I'll bet it'll be a 112 Slim Select in Magnacut!

Oh just buy one and strip the cerakote.I want to buy it, but, the Cerakote, again, on the blade is keeping my money in the wallet. I'm not sure if I can hold out 'cause I like that knife design. Being that it is Buck's first Cru-Ware knife. My FOMO is great!![]()
Ah, ok gotcha. Thanks. I was familiar with the phrase (and the feeling), just not the acronym.FOMO, is fear of missing out. It drives collectors into buying stuff because they don't want to be left out.
I'm taking a pass too. I didn't know what CRU-WEAR was until I looked it up. It's basically an improvement of D2, and like D2 it is not corrosion resistant.
To me, the price isn't warranted for what you are getting with CRU-WEAR. Paying Magnacut prices for improved D2... nah.
