February BOTM?

gck awesome
cruwear awesome
color-combo cool
of 500 maybe this is the year buck goes back to limiting their releases?

Ive only bought 1 buck knife in 2025 (paua 501)... rolling into Feb. Thats way down from this time last year. Im passing on this one. Waiting for the alphas to qualify for a discount and excited to pick up a few of the blue 300 series as gifts.

I'm taking a pass too. I didn't know what CRU-WEAR was until I looked it up. It's basically an improvement of D2, and like D2 it is not corrosion resistant.

To me, the price isn't warranted for what you are getting with CRU-WEAR. Paying Magnacut prices for improved D2... nah.
improved d2 would be cpm-d2. cruwear is a better steel in toughness at higher hardness than d2. edge retention are similar enough in use. I find cruwear easier to sharpen. corrosion resistance I haven't noticed either being horrible in rusting.

I wasn't too thrilled when I first saw this knife. The more I look at it though, the more I want it. But it is just too pricey for me at this time. (Just started doing my taxes. Hmmm... maybe if I get a nice refund....)

A Ground Combat Knife is one of the few that will cause me to break my no-blade-coating rule - especially in the drop point. But then I saw Vanadium Carbides and issued a full-stop to the propulsion plant.

If it was 5160, 420HC, or D2, and under $200, I’d be on it faster than a duck on a Junebug!

Just my personal preferences.

The 5160 they released two years ago was only $120. They had both Tanto and Drop Point versions.

Or even 3V
I can’t wait to see eBay in the next couple weeks

Like others I’m saving for the 300 series and at least one range, so I’ll pass. But these are really nice and I hope everyone that wants one is able to purchase.

Just out of curiosity, I looked to see what I could get at the custom shop for the same cost as these. I built a nice mirror polished no groove 420HC elk handled 119 for just a couple dollars less. I may have to pull the trigger on that one day.

I built that exact same knife 2 or three days ago. Haven't ordered it yet, but I may soon. Did you do brass or aluminum?

IMHO, selling well because only 500 made (directed at Buck management to Jedi mind trick them into doing what I want - "You will make BOTM in runs of 500 or less") and first time Buck using cru-wear.

Also because the ground combat knife is a great knife.

"You will send me free knives" : )
Don't jinx it by telling anyone if you got the free knives.

I didn’t have a 891, although they are a bit pricy, I ordered one. I’m really looking forward to the Ranger and the blue 300s. Guess I’ll have to start the knife fund over.
