Feedback or Wish list for thing you would like to see from EKI

I would like to see a custom shop for production models. So that way you could have your Emerson pimped by the factory and still have the warranty intact.

A custom Shop would be very cool. Nice call, S.T.R.

That is a really cool idea if you ask me. How cool would it be to buy a knife and then select all the different pimpage you want done to it? I imagine it would be chaos at the factory!

I wish all Emersons were drilled and tapped for left hand carry.
I would also like a waved A-100.

I am a long time user of Emerson knives, and I have enjoyed the ability to get some work done with a 15 in my hand. I would really like to see the HD-7. I never owned one and missed the chance to buy one on the secondary market. As such, I guess I can have one of my CQC-7 folders converted.

Indeed. If I could literally pick a change that Ernie himself would grant it would be an HD7. Having said that, getting The7 'converted' ( IMHO) then makes it Not an Emerson.

Clearly I am in the minority in that thinking. But it looses being a Full Fledged Emerson Knife when over half the frame is simply taken away and all is left is the original blade.<ducking beer bottles>

Please - HD7 :-)

They tried the Custom Shop idea back in 2000. For whatever reason, it didn't work out.

Wow, I didn't know that. I don't think that as many people knew about Emerson knives back in 2000 as they do now. Emerson is now a "Brand" that most knife people know about. Think about how many people pimp their Emersons now.
Does anyone have pictures of their Emersons that they had done in the custom shop? I'd like to see them and I'm sure others would too.

As far as I know, very few knives made it out of the Custom Shop. I have seen a couple with blue & green anodized liners.

As far as I know the name of the design was the "EDC Tanto" it is a sorta hybrid between an A100/horseman handle with a cqc7b blade

I remember the EDC Tanto. That is one cool folder. I think the blade has a slight belly.
I'll stick with my HD7 tho.

I am a South Paw, and believe we only account for 12-15% of the population, so why spend a boat load of money to accommodate a few people, when you can satisfy the masses, with Right Handed Knives?

Also when I say a boat load of money it would be on drilling fixtures, and than you have a two step operation called Drilling, and Taping (threading) plus the time factor.

I too would like to see all Emersons be AMBIDEXTROUS, but I understand the Dollars & Cents of the decision to cater to the Right Handed World.

Your idea about a Waved A-100 is a very good one.

It is not only for south paws, I am right handed, but often carry on my off side for various reasons. Also, if they cater to lefties, would that not mean something like a 10 to 12% increase in marketing? It seems like that might be worth some initial capital investment.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks a waved A-100 would be a good idea.

a waved a100 is a great idea but the mechanics of the design dont lend itself to it very well if you look at how far back the pivot is set.

It is alway easier to spend someone else's money than your own. Owning a business requires, right decisions, because wrong one will put you under.

Good post on Both accounts. Stinks I can't wave ( if need be) from my left pocket. ;-) I am sooooo much enjoying these 7's both for different reasons.

But it is something how I initially felt when I left that store with The7 compared to now. Extremely handy piece this serrated 7 has become. I Get It.

That's assuming those 10-12% of the populaton are KNIFE people and would want to spend money on an Emerson and not a gas station knife. If you call EKI they actually do have some models in left handed versions. Most likely the CQC-7 or Commander. I believe the locks are true lefties so it's not just the clip being moved. The grinds are still the same.

Yes I know I was assuming a lot. This is however, just a wish list, and I wish I had the option to move my clip. Although I do believe I can send any of my Emerson knives to EKI and have them drilled and tapped for a small fee.

Now if they could just wave my A-100...

Oh of course, I know it's a wish list, I'm explaining to the folks that it's kind of hard to capitalize on assumptions. Yes, EKI will tap left for a small fee.
