Thanks to the generosity of WSS regular and BF dealer storl, we will have the opportunity to do a passaround of the Fenix TK40, which is an LED flashlight that uses 8 AA batteries and delivers 630 lumens of darkness elimination.

Here is the link to the TK40 on storl's website.

BushcraftBrainTrust was an early adopter and wrote an excellent review of the light here. Since I haven't received the light from storl and I'm kissing up to BCT, hopefully he won't mind me stealing a picture here. :D

If you'd like to participate in this passaround, read the rules below and then post here that you would like to. By doing so, you are agreeing to abide by the rules.

Passaround Rules
  1. Eligibility - This passaround will be limited to stateside participants who are WSS regulars and have been BF members for at least six months. (If storl is willing and there is sufficient interest, we could then send it north of the border for a seperate Canadian passaround.)
  2. Number of Participants - The passaround will be limited to 10 participants, including me.
  3. Treatment - This is NOT a torture test. Use the light but do not abuse it. It should be passed on to the next participant (and back to storl) in like-new condition.
  4. Responsibility - If you receive the light and it appears damaged, contact me (NOT storl) immediately so we can talk to the prior participant. If you damage or lose this light, you will be liable to storl for its purchase price. If th elight is damaged or lost in transit from you, you are responsible for pursuing a claim with the post office. If the light is lost or damaged in transit and it was not properly packaged or insured (in violation of these rules) you will be responsible to storl for the full replacement price. (He also mentioned something about a kick in the balls.)
  5. Pictures - Take pictures and post them!
  6. Review - Post your thoughts on this light, including design, fit-and-finish and suitability for varius circumstances.
  7. Time Limit - Try to pass the light on to the next participant within a few days. The good news is that it gets dark every day, so you should have ample opportunity to try it out. At the outside, you should not be holding on to this light for more than a week.
  8. Box - Keep track of the box and any accessories, paperwork, etc. that came with the light and treat them with care. They are to be passed along with the light.
  9. Shipping - After you have had your turn, ship the light to the next participant by USP Priority Mail. Package it so that the light and everything else is well protected.
  10. Insurance & Delivery Confirmation - Insure the light for $185.00 and make sure to get delivery confirmation.
  11. Keeping Track - Email me when you have received the light. When you ship it, email me the tracking number.
storl didnt ask for this but I think it would be really nice that when you post your review and pictures if you would indicate to him that it is okay to quote you and/or use your photos on his website, www.goinggear.com if he chooses.

I'll start the list here to show the open slots, but not necessarily order.

LOL, no problem on the pic, Flix. I hope you guys like the TK40 as much as I like mine. I normally leave mine in one of the lower settings, it has a last setting memory, because the 630 is BRIGHT.

Wuss! All or nothing! :p

I'm guessing that most of you guys do not have a pile of 50 million rechargeable batteries like I do, so I'll probably include 8 Sanyo Eneloops and a charger as well. Due to this, please insure the package for $185, which should cost the same as insurance on $155.

Thanks storl! That will no doubt help. I have updated the info in my original post.

I'm in. I've been thinking about getting one of these so it will be a great chance to see if I like it. Thanks for the opportunity.

Garrett

I'd like to try it out if there is room! I've also had my eye on that light as well!

Hey FLIX, I would like to get in on this passaround but I don't post very often in WSS; I mostly lurk and read. If there are others more deserving that is fine, but it would be great if you can fit me in. PM sent as well.

There are still three open slots. If nobody else wants in by the time I receive the light from storl, I'll close the list, sort it by geography and publish it here.

I'm surprised this wasn't jumped on more. My guess is that people are unfamiliar with how Fenix lights rock. Can't wait to see this thing in person. Thanks again FLIX and storl!

Please add me to that last spot, if it is still open. I have really been wanting to see this light in person.

Okay! We have our ten participants and the light arrived in today's mail. (Conviently, my Olight M30 arrived as well!) I look forward to using this light over the next several days. I'll sort the list and publish it soon.
