Well, as has been said, this light is bright. I found the beam to be the perfect balance between throw and spill. I expected it to be the same as my P3D which is more of a "floody" type but brighter...it wasn't. The TK40 has a much more focused beam but not so much so as to be pinpoint like the Maglight LED. The user interface is a little different than the other smaller lights but it worked well for the levels of output that the light has. My favorite is the beacon mode (I think Fenix calls it slow flash). It basically flashes on the high setting every few seconds so that you can find your way back from a midnight pee in the woods. For you guys that are getting this light after me, here is something to try for fun: set the light on beacon mode, set it on the ground aiming up into the sky, see how far away you need to go in the woods before you can't see it anymore.....its a ways.
Anyway, I love this light. It is definetely on the to get list now. I agree with some that it may be a little much for long hiking, but it depends on what you find important in your load out. If you are going to do a lot of night time activities, it would be nice simply because of the seamingly infinite run time on the low setting.
My special "plan" for the light didn't work out. It was basically to mount it to my AR as a coyote hunting weapon light. I don't have the right size picatinny mount for a light of this tube diameter but as you'll see in the pics, it would not add a whole lot to a carbine sized rifle. Not exactly a light weight tactical light but a hunting light for sure.

imagine it mounted here like this...great night hunting light

Thanks again for the chance to be in the passaround. I really enjoyed the chance to try it out.
