  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

'Fess Up: Goofy novelty knives you've bought...

The very first knife that I bought for myself when I got into this hobby this year was a 3 dollar frost cutlery June bug key chain knife. It was very crappy ...

I bought a Gerber BMF almost 30 years ago,lol

This year the Christmas gifts to boys in the family are SOG Flash II, and a handful of Kershaws(cheap but good bang for the buck)

Thanks for posting, folks!

I felt as though I was starting to take my collection way too seriously and I admit it felt kind of good to buy something just for kicks. Brings back some of the fun factor, y'know? :D

-Brett

Hell ya, it should be fun.

A CRKT First Strike, no idea what I thought I would use it for. Shown with the fixed blade I actually use the most.

I've never bought anything I didn't totally need. ;) Speaking of which, I've got a nice beachfront lot for sale here in Phoenix for a cool $275,000, if anyone is interested. :D

I just picked up a knock off otf for me and I picked up a two bladed "Batman Knife" for a gag gift for my son. I'll most likely send him home with the knock off also.

anyone see the MTECH zombie assist? its a badarse lookin blade with skulls and all.neat looking but I try and not buy made in china.still a coolest of the year looking knife.IMHO.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I am mostly ashamed to say I own and carried (once!) that same Batman knife. It was a gift from a dear friend though.

I bought 2 Cold Steel Kudus purely because thy were cheap.
Biggest hunks of crap ever.

I have lots of Gerbers and Frosts.
Before this forum Gerber was te best knife ever.
Mini para frames were my favorite.
I used them more as screwdrivers and throwing knives than cutting.
And I loved fantasy crap.
*Sighs*
I carried whatever had the best fit and finish.
I didn't care about bladeplay or steel as long as it was stainless.

ha! in the time when i had no clue about steel difference and quality I bought three knives, 2 frost cutlery with famous japanese surgical steel, words from the sales guy that convinced me to buy them, and a very nice handmade skinner wich is actually quite nice.
the Frosts see more action as letter openers.

I would consider my ZT 0550 a novelty knife. Its just too damn big, chunky and pretty to do anything with. Out of all my knives, it has seen the least amount of pocket time and use. Been casually trying to sell it at gun shows since I got it.

I'm a sucker for neck knives and saw this Shrade on Amazon for cheap so I bought it on impulse.

It wasn't until it arrived that I saw the ridiculous mall-ninja sheath. I immediately gave the knife away to the first teenager I saw (my son-in-law).

I am a sucker for those Wally World $20 knife sets. I buy them all...then I get 3-4 more from friends and family. Last year I had 4 SOG Fasthawks---5 Magnadots...and so many Kershaw tactical pens I could write a dictionary!!

Böker Magnum Pocket Kukri, what a P.O.S :p
17€ and the liner went all the way over the first time I chopped with it.
Should've bought some Kebap and a six-pack for that money

I bought a Cold Steel Voyager XL w/clip blade purely for the "cool" factor. It's definitely a hoot, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how useful it is, especially as a woods/camp knife. It does a lot of things well.

As for impulse buys that I had to laugh at afterward, I can't help but think of the butterfly knife that I bought a few months ago. It was a quality knife produced by a well-known manufacturer, but after two days of using it, I found myself saying, "What in the world did I buy this thing for?" Needless to say, I don't own it anymore.

No offense to those who love butterfly knives. To each his own. They just aren't my thing.

This one... The KaBar Hobo. The silver-handled one that comes apart into 3 separate utensils might have at least been somewhat useful, but this one is pretty useless.
