Thank you so much brother for your post. I've been missing hanging out with my fellow Fiddlebackers. I'm sitting at my dad's bedside in the ICU as I type this, having just read to him the well wishes and prayers you guys have posted. Thanks so much all of you.

Cory may I join you in your post? That is very well said and a wonderful verse. It is one of my favorites and one that I often turn to. Thank you for posting it.

Brian and Nathan you are my family's focus in prayer.

Praying for you Nathan. Your card at Christmas was very much appreciated. You guys are the best. Schmittie, I'm praying for you as well. Thank you to all of you.

My dad passed away last night in his sleep, peacefully and without pain. I already miss him a ton, but know that he is no longer suffering and we know that one day we will all be reunited.

2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I am sorry for you, your Mom, and the rest of your family for the loss of your father. I know from our many messages that Dave was a great husband, father, and spiritual leader to your family. Your quoting of 2 Timothy 4:7 is very appropriate because he did all three of those things. Take comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord he loved so much.

Let me know if I can do anything for you. I'll keep praying for all of you and Audrey in particular.

Nathan I am very sorry for your loss. I understand the hurt of losing my father and I also know bittersweet peace that came with knowing the suffering had ended. I pray for strength and comfort for you and your family during this difficult time. As you said, you can also rejoice as one day you will be reunited.
 
Nathan, it breaks my heart to hear about the loss of your father and the pain you must be feeling. I am so sorry.

In addition to the verses you quoted, I also find John 5: 28, 29 and Job 14: 14, 15 encouraging and comforting.

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad to a heart attack many years ago, and I still feel that loss every day. You and your family are in my prayers.

My deepest sympathies go to you, your mom and your family Nathan. When my dad passed, it was a relatively short illness, about 6 months. But given his age, I thought that I was prepared for the inevitable. After his passing I became accutely aware of just how unprepared I was. When we prepare for these things, we do so intellectually and logically. When they happen they affect us on a completely different level. A level where intellect and logic do not reside. It will be 10 years this August 30 that my dad passed, and very few days go by where I do not think about him at least once, and more often than not, he comes to mind several times throughout the day. I bring this up because you are likely to be surprised in the days, weeks and months that follow.

Know that I am praying for you and your family my brother, and I am so glad to hear that your dad is a man of faith.
