There are no Fiddlebacks wrapped and waiting for me, for that matter, there aren't any presents! But I've found that what makes my birthdays special now is the time I get to spend with my 4 favorite people! A loving family is the best gift ever!

I want to take a minute to thank everyone for the prayers and kind words for my mom. The good news is my mom will not have to endure the horrific cancer issues she was facing. As a family we are happy but also heart broken. The Lord had a different plan for my mom. Mom had a stroke Sunday. I was with her in ambulance when her heart stopped. They brought her back and she has been in ICU. She has been awake enough to have some nice moments with her family. Unfortunately she has progressively gotten worse. We asked for Hospice to come in today. She is no longer on all of the hospital monitors or hooked up to wires and tubes. She has been made comfortable and now she just waits to be called home to glory. We will mourn as a family but we will rejoice that she is with her Lord.

I am sorry to read about the loss Vayu. I don't know what your relationship was to her, but the story makes it clear that she was an amazing woman.

I understand your mixed feelings Dave. It is a blessing that your mom will not have to endure the physical and emotional pain that would have accompanied the cancer surgery. By everything you have shared about her, she has been a great wife, mother, and friend to your extended family. I pray that her remaining days are peaceful and filled with special moments that bless her for the legacy she has given.

My family went through a similar scenario earlier this year. We can only trust that things happen for a reason. Hardest thing ever to lose my mom, but glad she went peacefully.

May He keep your mom in one hand and the rest of your family in His other.

Dave, I'm so sorry to hear that things took a bad turn. Keep your chin up man. Try and stay positive. My heart goes out to you and your family. You, your mother and your family will be in my prayers.

Dave, this turn of events for your mom I know took all of you by surprise. Know that my prayers for you, your mom and your family never cease.

For the sake of you, Suzanne, & Tink, I am so sorry to hear that your mom Eleanor has passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out to you through the grieving process. Take comfort know that she is home with her Lord now.

Thank you once again. I apologize, I have monopolized the Community Center thread lately. I just really appreciate and value the friendships I have here. My mom's funeral is Monday. The family is truly rejoicing in the fact that she will not endure this horrific cancer or surgery. She is at peace.

We had some great stories and laughs last night!! My mom loved a good party. :D

I will share a little story. My mom was very into the outdoors. She loved camping, outdoor shows on tv and being from a hunting family. She was also very interested in my guns and knives. A couple of her favorite knives were ... my Fiddleback Nessmuk and bone Hiking Buddy. :):)

So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Mother. I pray that you and your family will find comfort knowing that she at peace now, and did not have to endure the surgery and chemo treatments. Continue your love for her through the many memories that you hold dear. Smoke & prayers my friend.
