Fiddleback on Tap Saturdays

A different kind of cold brew, my camp nessie and a failed stop cut.

Duder, WOW..... that's a heck of a wine sitting! OP1 is what it's all about in my book! Man!!!! Thanks for the pic! I am jealous!

Duder:

The question remains.....did you guys stop at the Silver Oak or did you pop the cork on the Kosta Browne as well ?

My wife and I enjoyed a 2009 Kosta Browne last night for dinner....a single vineyard designate known as Gaps Crown, also from Sonoma. KB's 2009 wines are out of this world.

Cheers to your Dad......bet he didn't ask for that vintage bottle of 7 Up to go along with the Silver Oak did he ?

As I was posting my last post, cars were pulling up to the house with family members and more wine. We opened a lot of good stuff. A lot of Turley, 2008 Tomasso Bussola Amarone which was really good once it opened up and some others. I went to open the Kosta Browne but my mother said she had had enough. I promised to open it with her, so I had to put it away for another day. I'm gonna have a "Summer's Almost Gone" bbq and I'm opening that Kosta first thing. I'm sure it's peaking if not coming down from its peak, so time is of the essence.

All in all, a fun time was had by all. Oh, and 7up wasn't allowed.

As a person who isn't really into wines, but does enjoy them, I have looked for those to no avail. It's probably a lot like cigars I am guessing, something I am really into, once you know who to ask and where to look the hard to find stuff becomes much easier to get. Hopefully one day I can sit down to a Kosta!

Sounds like you & your family know how to hold a wine tasting party for sure. That "Summer's Almost Gone" bbq sounds like a fitting opportunity to pop the cork on that 09 KB. I'll be looking forward to seeing a pic with the cork set free ;). When you do open it, give it a good hour or so to open up to its fullest expression. You'll be glad you did.

Hah , thanks Nathan -- every time I see the smiling monk on the bottle, my day gets a little bit better ! I'm due some Trappiste Rochefort 10 soon... If you haven't had it yet, I would highly recommend it!!

Man, another phenomenal camp nessie and equally phenomenal brew! Nice combo BartLax!

It's not Saturday, but been having the case of the Mondays....

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I like to sample a bunch....hence with the largest FB I got.

Amazing Fiddie there! That handle is on fire and the spalting is gorgeous. While I can't speak to the other two, Left Hand Milk Stout is a personal favorite.

Wow! What kind of wood is that?!?!

The spalting and wood on that is Amazining!

Thanks Nathan, I actually started drinking the Left Hand after I saw your photos awhile back, so thank you for leading me down the path of righteousness sir ;) The Lagunita and the Rogue were all pretty good too, especially the Rogue. I love the specialty beers they put out.

Thanks Duder, it's the Amboygna burl scale. At 3/16 thickness, the Duke's a monster (especially since all my Fiddie's up until now have been 1/8" since I prefer thinner blades in general).
