Fiddleback User Pics

Badly lit shot showing a range of spine/stock thicknesses.

Top to bottom: 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16.

The 3/32 and 1/8 are both CPM 154 but the 3/32 is a newer Fiddletextured model and seems almost as thick as the older untextured 1/8 (I don't have fancy measuring equipment) but put back to back there is a difference. Fun to see how much, or little, of the stamp fits on the spine.

Bear, my recollection was that the 1/8" CPM 154 is actually just a hair under 5/32. The mfger. allowed extra width to allow finishing the sides and still leave 1/8", which Andy leaves this on. I suspect the same is true with the 3/32" CPM 154 stock. However, your 1/8" example appears significantly thinner than the 5/32 O1. I have a CPM 154 Sneaky Pete in 1/8" that I EDC, and it is very close to 5/32". Sitting here looking at the Maker's Mark, it all fits on my SP example, except for the down loop of the k in Fiddleback. Looks just like your 5/32" in fact.

Walt, this is my only 1/8 stainless so I don't have others to compare but it is consistent with my O1/A2 1/8 knives. As I mentioned it is an older model with no fiddletexture. I guess that's the beauty of hand made knives.

Could be that Andy changed his process when he added the fiddletexture. He might have just finished it to 1/8" prior to this. My first knife was the referenced SP, and it is fiddletextured. Funny about these knives, I own probably 4 SPs, and I like this first one the best out of the lot. It just fills my hand perfectly, and all of the others are less substantial.

Very nice meal zack1421. My dinner tonight was somewhat similar rustled up on the bbq. The PK enjoyed going through the fillet.

Ok...so now I want to try one of the newer edc styles AND I'm starving. Thanks guys!:grumpy: :D

Nice one Hasco! It reminds me of a shot I took of the first Bushfinger :)

Seeing a picture of that bushfinger recently is what inspired me to pick up this lady finger. The original bushfinger handle looks to be a cross between the lady finger and the new bushfinger. I would love to have one exactly like that one you had. It looks to be the perfect fiddleback. That is an amazing photo by the way!!!!
