Cool schmittie! Don't you love how Andy's scandis carve?

Had a chance to take a couple of my lightweight Fiddlebacks out on a hike this morning. Didn't get to use them but did stick them in a tree. I love the wood on these. (EDKarda in African Blackwood and Hiking Buddy in Bocote)

Nice looking Bushcrafter you have there Subaru. Have fun with the patina.

We decided to go camping this weekend. Good opportunity to try out my Arete which I had "reprofiled" on stones to a zero convex edge. I thinned out the midbevel as well a bit, so it's now an awesome slicer and just the right geometry for feathersticks and shavings. You can still see some of the coarser scratches more towards the spine/flats and a beginning patina. The sharp difference in reflection on picture #2 right in the middle of the blade is just the tarp above that cut the light.

Happy days ...

My first Fiddleback, got the kitchen duty right out the box :D

Now it's already sporting some patina.

Nice Bushfinger, doesn't take long in a kitchen to develop a cool patina.

Get that puppy stained up mist!

Yeah, already working on that. Something I cut outside today produced one of the quickest stains I've seen yet. Now I have to figure out what it was :)

let me know, maybe I have it in my area too.

I have never tried autumn olive berries but they seem as if they would be good for it.

Autumn olives are highly tannic and would probably work well. I think this stain was done by the wild cucumbers or the grapes, I'm not sure yet

just got my first FB, woking on a patina!

Nice! A close friend of mine also has a Bushcrafter and I love how it feels and handles. Yours looks to be tapered tanged, I bet it handles even better. Looking forward to more pics of it later.

took me 3 weeks to thin out my 18" (grind then use then grind some more cycles to figure out when to stop)...now it's how i like it - light and fast!

i started the distal taper right at the logo.

Interesting. The reason I am drawn to the twelve over the fourteen is that the twelve is a bit thicker than the others. I've never had the chance to play with a quality thinner mactete, but a lot of people rave about Andy's longer machetes and the even thinner ESEE machete, so maybe next spring I need to give one of the longer Fiddleback machetes a chance. Gonna be doing a lot of clearing and burning this winter, and then a lot of maintenance next spring and summer.

Nice patina developing there.

My 1st Fiddleback! the Bushfinger it is.... Time to share some pictures, hope you like them.
