I think the cat is "packin". Remember, never bring a knife to a gunfight". Great picture. There is no doubt the cats working on a plan. Of course it could loss interest and start chasing the invisible mouse.

Plue:

Man, I gotta say, I'm sitting here looking at your pics filled with jealousy. I gotta get up to the mountains. Gorgeous shots.

Maybe tomorrow. Oh wait, not tomorrow, the Broncos are playing. Maybe I'll ditch work on Monday. We've had some good snow lately and I'm sure I could find a good spot.

Thanks, Thurin, I appreciate that. I'm always the same way, always things to do, errands to run, and sleep to catch up on. It's one of my goals for this year to get out a lot more, and maximize my use of the short summer season with some over-nighters and trout fishing.

You have some beautiful country in your area as well, I was around the Denver area last year for a couple work trips and snuck out for a couple days for some hikes. My travel around the US is not overly extensive, but so far Denver has been my favorite, beautiful mountains, great food, and fantastic beer - and all so much cheaper than Canada. I'm probably more jealous of you, hehe.

Yesterday I decided to use up my last day off this set to test out my new snowshoes in the forest. The weather in the area was very warm for a winter day, but I didn’t have too much time available to go up into the higher mountains. Instead, I decided to go play around in the foothills (which by the way had way more snow than I bargained for).

My surroundings for the day looked like this:

The snowshoes did very well, and I managed to snag this photo of me floating on top of the snow:

In reality though, the snow in most places was about 3 feet deep, and with my snowshoes I was sinking up to my knees in the powder. This yielded for a slow and intense uphill climb that took more time than I planned, so about halfway up I decided to sit down for some lunch before going back. At least if I come back next time, the trail should be broken in and I can hopefully make it to the top.

My lunch spot:

My Hiking Buddy was pretty lazy today and made me do all the uphill legwork. At least he helped prepare lunch:

Well, that about covers my trip for today. Fantastic weather, great company with my Hiking Buddy in my pocket, and the snowshoes thoroughly snowshoed in.

Thanks for coming along!

Now to go drink bourbon...

AWESOME shots man! Looks like a great day out. In a way I feel luck though, since we only had just over a foot of snow here...on top of the ice covered earlier snows. I'm glad I didn't have to buy the snow shoes I was pricing :) I really like that stove, I think I may have to get one. Hiking Buddies are somewhat like hobbits...a little on the lazy side, but love food prep :)

You guys are killing me...I'll end up grilling cheeseburgers in the middle of the night now...

The Bushfinger is for food prep, the Hatchula II is to keep the cat away! :)

Hey, that Catchula II looks like it has a tapered tang.

Damn that looks good...I'm going to end up cooking something...I can just feel it coming :)

Hey, that Catchula II looks like it has a tapered tang.

Mist, USAmadeblade had that in stock several months ago... tapered tang, file work and a fairly high grind. I use it a bunch! I like a bright knife for woods work, easy to find!

Sweet! I have a couple of Dylan's knives, one is an O-575 I like to take to the woods a lot, but I haven't seen any of his with tapers before. I need to make a leather sheath for the 575, I was carrying it in a Spec Ops sheath, but up here the "tactical contractor" look is not really what I want to go for. Dylan makes some bad ass knives.

He does! I have one of his newer small knives, the TS4; I really like it and the Pro 6-5. Good Stuff!

Hey all,
I just wanted to share some quick updated pics of my FBF family! I've been traveling a ton for work lately, and really haven't had much time to participate in the forum. See below for a few teasers from an upcoming thread I'll be putting together regarding my first few months collecting, using, and working (not abusing) Andy's knives!

--I was hoping to get some pics of my latest family member (a camp nessie) up this weekend, but the post holiday has delayed delivery until Tuesday. Until then enjoy & feel free to ask if anyone wants any specific comparison photos, etc.

cheers

Work's been crazy and I've been out of pocket, but I am really liking my new EDCII. With the nice high grind, this thing is a great slicer even at 5/32.

Snack Time!
