Awesome camping photos!

Thanks trestle! I am a Boy Scout District Chairman, and Assistant Scoutmaster in a Troop, so I am in the woods about once every 3 weeks. I need to take more pics of my knives in use to share!

Crano, the boys were catching them, and I was cleaning. I do consider myself a fisherman, but I could not catch a trout that day to save my life! The Smith River in Henry County, VA is some of the best trout fishing around. We were catching 10-14" NATURAL born rainbows! Beautiful fish! I'm sorry I did not get a picture!

Great pics Will and that Camp Knifes a beauty but where are the photos of the fish mate?

I received a Camp Knife in the post today from Jules (bear71) it's an older 2011 model and I must say it's a cracker of a knife. I have a 10 day trout fishing holiday coming up so I will post some pics of the Camp and other knives when I return.

Thanks again Will.

I have been using this Hunter at home and in the woods for the last 6 weeks or so... I am really enjoying that profile! It does not seem that large at all!

I've been carrying and using my Bushboot every day since I got it, and it is starting to develop a slight patina. I got some blue & purple in there, but since yesterday there also are some dark yellow/light brown spots in the mix. This happened after I put it directly in the sheath after washing & drying it (usually I let it sit on the counter for a few minutes after drying, before I sheath it) & then let it sit in the sheath for a few hours.

I tried taking some pics but apparently my photography skills aren't good enough to capture what I want to show:

It just looks dirty in the pic but there are actually quite a few colours irl.

My question to you guys, should I be worried about the yellow/brownish spots, is this something I should remove, or is there no need to worry about rust as long as I use and clean it every day and oil it once a week or so?

That is a good question! There have bee a couple of times I have ended up with that on my blades, I have been afraid it was surface rust mixed in with patina. I have lightly cleaned my bade surface with a little Mother's, just taking off that color/texture and leaving most all of the patina. It seems the more patina on the blade, the less likely this will form. I am no expert, this is just my thoughts!

That was exactly what I was worried about. But I looked up as many pics of Fiddlebacks with a patina last night and did see that same yellowish tint on a number of the knives I came across so I guess it's just part of the natural colour spectrum of O1's patina.

It doesn't look particularly pretty though. I'm gonna try a banana-patina to cover it up with.

Cheddar cheese will darken the piss out of O1 steel too. ;)

That's not something we normally have in the fridge, but I might give that a try too, thanks for the tip

The banana peel left some very dark stripes and spots but most of it came off again when washing the knife. But I forgot to clean it beforehand & the blade was still a bit oily so that's probably why. I'm gonna give the banana peel another try first tomorrow.

It's 1AM. The wife and kids are sound asleep. I've just finished working 30 hours on the weekend. The Broncos won. I have some Bulleit Frontier Whiskey and my Fiddleback Machete, freshly drawn from its Heber sheath. Bring on the fricken zombies, I am so ready for this.

Not often we get cooking facilities in our hotels so decided to make the most of it and roast a leg of lamb. It was a good excuse to try out my recently arrived Leuku, after all a good piece of meat deserves a good knife! It was described as a 'stout' knife in the friday post, and by golly it is.

made a beautiful job of slicing the meat.

The Leuku is a versatile all-around model. I remember thinking that my original 5/32" SFT Ruby burlap felt very stout. I can only imagine how stout it feels in 3/16" SFT. I like that Red & Black burlap on yours. Very nice looking knife! Congrats Jules.

Thanks Phil, I think it'll give my 3/16 Woodsman some competition for my Go-to knife around the yard! The burlap mix is quite subtle, and as always feels great.

The patina is coming along nicely, apples seem to work well for me:

ps: can someone please point me to that comparison-thread where people post pics and measurements of different Fiddlebacks? I've been searching for almost an hour now but can't find it.
