Fiddleback User Pics

Haven't posted any pics for a while. I've been the kind of crazy busy that makes one want to turn everything off and move somewhere without people. Took a few minutes of personal time today after doing some writing. Kids were out of the house and everything was still and quiet. Bliss.

Michael, that Bushboot is incredible looking.

Very pretty...

Whatcha carvin Mikey?

That Bushboot is fab!

Thanks guys, and sorry for the delay. I've been in the woods with the kids, so I'm not TOO sorry. 😄

I'm really loving the BB. I'm amazed at its beauty every time I see it, and it's presence reminds me of all of you, Andy & Co., and all the good in the world. I've realized lately that is the reSon I carry it so much. I usually have a folder in my pocket, and 9 out of 10 times I probably use the folder to cut. But with the BB comes hope, and a reminder of the good in humanity. Probably the weirdest reason to carry a knife, but there you go....

I've been trying some new things, carving wise, lately. This, if it works, will be a chain (only two links long). I'm trying large format but small goals. 😄

I like that half congress, Michael. Looks like some nice brown jigged bone.

The boot ain't bad either. ;)

The half congress really is nice. Solid feel, nice bone and jigging, great thin grind on the main. I've seen a couple on the BF exchange go for around half of their OTS price point. I don't know why they aren't bing gobbled up. Mine has few "flaws" (yet still far superior to the case knives I've handled), but I wonder if it is another knife falling victim to the desire to have custom knife f&f for a factory price.

And no, the boot ain't bad. 😄

Probably. I recognize I've been spoiled by GEC. I tried a couple S&Ms, but the F&F was just not what I was used to. Haven't tried a Queen made knife since. It ain't right and it ain't fair. But it is what it is. I'm going to try branching out into other brands, but I think I may need to do it in person and hand pick. Incidentally, I had a Case sowbelly recently that was near perfect F&F.

Anyway, see pic below for a feeble attempt to keep this somewhat Fiddleback related. Did y'all know I like blue?!?

double tapping error crap this software keeps giving.

That Hiking Buddy always kills me. Must grab something irresistible in BEB to use as trade bait. ;)

lol .. it is one of my all time favs too. Has a GREAT in hand feel. If you can ever talk MajorD out of his bone-handled HB .. that would be my Fiddleback grail. :D

GB -- that is a killer bushboot; I don't know whose I like more -- yours or Michael's!

Thanks man. I'm not all that good at photography but this one kinda makes it easy to take pretty pictures.

Michael's BB also looks stunning indeed. Luckily I'm not in to blue liners but otherwise I would be very tempted to offer him a trade

GB, your BB is incredibly gorgeous too (just not as gorgeous as mine 😱 😏 😉). That eucalyptus reminds me of a Van Gogh brush technique--the "threads" of the wood are infinitesimally small. It's a very different kind of burl, and that such variety even exists is beautiful and amazing. Enjoy that one. It's special.

Thank you Sir. I must admit I was a little envious when I first saw yours. I had been on the hunt for one of my own for a while back in early August and missed out on a couple I liked already, but luckily this one came up just a day later & I just knew that this was my knife the moment I saw it. I sharked it up just in time, a minute later and it would have been Imrahil's instead.

This really is a grail-knife for me, it will be used but cherished as well.

Don't stop posting pictures of yours though, I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at that beauty too

Here are a few pics comparing curls between a 3/32" scandi and a 5/32" convex.
