Got stuck a few hours north of D.C. on my way back from visiting my uncle in Ohio. Moved about 50 feet in 4 hours. The reason? They road crews decided to do some construction on a holiday weekend (go figure :grumpy:).

I have never been stooped for more than an hour. Typically I am traveling at about 5 to 10 MPH taking 45 min to an hour to travel what should only take 15 minutes on the Capital Beltway.

The longest time was probably 1 hour in Salt Lake City. The most recent time that I was caught at a stand still for a decent length of time was last summer. We were at a stand still for over 25 minutes. I live in a rural area, traffic jams aren't very common, so 25 minutes was pretty unusual for us.

Nope, this was between Cumming and Canton on Ga Hwy 20. Two lane road blocked by chicken feathers and crates and the truck of course.
Oh ok same thing happened to me with the chickens wondered if it was the same accident

Working in prudhoe bay we got snowed in where we were working at and it took about 4 hours to drive 15 miles back to the man camp.

I used to commute in Seattle and the times would bounce anywhere from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on the day. The longest I had in that was 3.5 hours one day.

Thanks!

4 hours. After reading this post then forgetting to post early this morning, I was off to work. Making a left turn out of my driveway and then getting up to speed for a total of 1 min I saw tail lights. A tractor trailor was jack knifed across both lanes of the road. After waiting for it to clear for 2hours I finally turned around and went the only other way I could go...75minutes out of the way so my 1hour trip to work took me 5 hours this morning. All day I havent been able to think about anything but making this post as it was meant to be.

I have been lucky. Only dead stopped for maybe 15 minutes. Going slow for a long time. Thanks for the chance!

5 hours coming back from a late night fishing trip. Came up on a car in the middle of the road. Stopped looking at it when a burst of flames came out of the ditch. Got on the horn with 911 and was stuck.

Waited out a snow storm... about 3 hours on the side of the road. No visibility can be nerve wrecking.

I got suck going southbound on I5 from Seattle to Olympia a few years ago.
The trip usually takes about 1hr 10min.
That day it was well over 4hrs...
Stop and go leaving Seattle, construction slow downs if Fife, accidents blocking what are already slow lanes in Tacoma...
Dreadful. I hate being stuck in traffic...

Thanks for a chance in this very generous GAW Whitty. Very cool!

8 hours on the side of the road starting at 10pm after my car broke down. Not traffic, but still sucked! Still had to go into work the next day...

Official entry,

Working in SF the day before Thanksgiving weekend, I back tracked to my moms house in SSF, ended up leaving my moms about 2 pm, at the time I was living in Santa Rosa, I didn't get home until almost 9 pm with bumper to bumper traffic all the way home...

About 7 hours coming home from work.

At the time I was working in Marietta and had a 1 hour commute from home/work. It was winter and it started to snow while I was still at work. Snow on the roads in Georgia is scary between the DoT not being prepared/funded for it and the other drivers. Since I was driving a 2-wheel drive truck at the time I left work about 1 hour early to hopefully avoid the roads turning bad. 30 minutes north on I-75 and I came to a dead stop in traffic on a part of the highway the goes up and turns. Apparently the road had gotten icy and some cars/trucks/semis had slid around and made a mess. Luckily I had a full water bottle, a book, and my old Army poncho-liner. Basically sat back, covered up in my poncho-liner, and read/napped till around 2:30am when traffic finally started moving again.

I do not miss that job, or the commute. There were days the 40 minute drive to Marietta took less time than the final few miles.

Official entry 4 hours to go 3 miles on the Belt Parkway waiting for a 4 car accident with a flipped over Cadillac to clear.

Offfical Entry:

3.5 hours in stop and go traffic. My son and I made a trip out to Northwoods Knives (KnivesShipFree's brick and mortar) on a whim, 45 minute drive one way on a good day. What I failed to take into account that day was it was a Friday and we were at the store at about 1 pm. On the trip back I realized what time it was, about 3pm, and decided to take surface streets back, thinking it would be quicker because the interstate would be jammed. What got us stuck, was I didn't take into account all the other people trying to get on to the interstate, which had stalled traffic on all the surface streets. Ugh. I haven't gone back to NW Knives since. Just too much of a hassle, and NO DAY is a better day than the last or the next.

Took a train from Milwaukee to Glenwood Springs, CO for a snowboard trip to Aspen and hit a snowstorm in Nebraska that stopped the train because of snow drifts over the tracks. I looked out the window and saw a sign for an auto repair shop (like A&J's Auto or some such) and figured, oh well, I'll just fall asleep and when I wake up we'll be there. Well, I woke up 4 1/2 hours later and looked out the window and what did I see? A&J's Auto. Ugh.
