Field Knife leather sheath options?

I don't have any meaningful pics yet, but I wanted to say.

My Sagewood FK belt sheath came today, and the first words out of my mouth were. "Holy shit."

Best sheath I have ever seen, hands down. Fit and finish are perfect. Stitches are perfect. No indent in the leather from a sewing machine.

The fit is perfect, snug and zero movement, but not too tight. One had function easily. The strap pivots right out of the way. The edges are radiused and the finish is amazing. Really, I knew it was going to be good, but not this good.

IF you want something that is basically low key, not flashy or decorative or something, simple looking but literally perfectly made, Brian @ Sagewood is your man. Hands down I am buying more of his work for whatever he will do for Nathan's knives, and any knives I end up with in the future he will do.

IMO Sagewood makes the perfect sheath philosophy wise for Nathan's knives, and leaves nothing to be desired. One of the very few purchases I have made in recent memory that feels like I paid less than what I got for my money.

Rating this one a 15 out of 10.

I don't have one of Brian's for my field knives yet, but a gentleman was kind enough to include a Sagewood in a deal for a S!K 4.1. It's the model that gives you the choice between scout carry and drop loop. I agree with JF, it's a top notch piece of equipment.

Can we see it in total from different angles? Its hard to picture how it carries from there... that be great

I have not had a chance to set it up yet. As in put either the belt loop or the dangler on as I ordered both so it comes with neither attached. You can see in pics from other people what that looks like for the most part.

Maybe on my next day off I will get to that. Not sure. We're past outdoor season for the year so it's on the back burner at the moment. I won't be using it till next year now. :o It's actually back in the box in a storage facility right now waiting to be dealt with when I get a user FK.

Fk in the pic is my reference collection one so I only want to handle it very minimally. Put it in the sheath to test fit it, then back into storage. Most of my knives are not at the house as we are going through renovations at the moment.

Sorry.

Dang Justin I cannot wait to get mine , I have a all black one on order .

That is what I got as well. All black with both belt options, no firesteel loop. It's a thing of beauty. I will order more for sure. Post some pics for Brian77 please when it shows up will ya?

Just got my sagewood sheath .
Wow I am very happy !
My field knives are fighting over who gets to wear it !

Had Kiah make one, which I really like.

He uses thicker kydex; the fit, finish, and retention are excellent

Here is Kiah's work in coyote next to the standard sheath in black.

Interesting to see Kiah on this one. Thanks for sharing. I thought he would have done the taco style. Did you specify he didn't?

Just sent him the knife and asked him to make high riding belt sheath in coyote. Left the rest to him, and am very happy with the result. It has much more secure retention than the original, but snaps in and out very easily. You're welcome.

Thanks for posting that up jeffbird. Kiah is a great maker. Cool to see what makers come up with when they get the go-ahead to run with it.
