One point to consider. In the dinamic and impredictible harsh of the fight when both persons involved will be in general in motion, in chronch position advancig, with the blood full of chemicals (like adrenalin). In such case it is very hard to hit the predator even with a handgun (let s said about 30% for 7 yards distances). but hitting him with trowing knives and incapacitating him it is very very hard to proceed (not to say almost imposible).If you have only one knife left you must keep it as last layer of defence not to throw into predator.

Now that this Thread has officially Jumped The Shark, I see all we well-intentioned long timers have been refighting the wrong war. Our young Combativ has a younger, bolder vision of the 21 C. battlefield, and we need to step up our game.
Combativ, +1 to the long range throwing-star concept. 65 stars may not be enough for an all-day engagement, but it's a start. Poison on the stars is a good start also, but I think you should be sure to thoroughly apply poison to your uniform and boots also. Poisonous bootprints will take care of any Taliban who may try to follow you. Poison on your uniform fabric will give you an invisible surprise edge if any predators should try to attack you in your sleep using bare-handed ninja wrestling holds after infiltrating your Base. And back to the tactical advantages of keeping the enemy at least at throwing-star distance: the average M4 rifle is sadly limited in effective range. But an inexpensive $5 laser pointer worn on a forehead strap mount from WalMart can blind enemies (predators to we DoD old hands) out to 1000 yards. Another advantage to the forehead laser pointer is you will be the envy of all the guys in your unit. In fact it's safe to say your reputation will precede you wherever you go. And if any of the Axis of Evil should develop an air force capability, you and you alone will be prepared to respond with singlehanded ground-to-air warfighting laser awesomeness. This strategery would also be invaluable in a scenario where predators have somehow assumed the identity of our own air personnel and attempt to use our own state of the art air assets against us. You could then instantly neutralize the threat by blinding their cockpit crews. You might even think about doing this proactively, just as a precaution, any time US air assets appear in sight. Again, distinguish yourself. Initiative.

Lets just make it easy...I'm sure you could get hold of a cloaking device. Invisibility would be the ultimate weapon. You wouldn't even need to wear any gear and could travel lightly.

I think that these "uniforms impregnated with poison" can bring more danger than good to the one who wears them or his comrades.
For sure that the laser is great for medium and large distances, but for 1-5 yards distance will work only the skills who become instincts (firearms point & shoot or knife ferocious cutting & trusting the opponent before and harder than he could does).
Each must practice hard and uninterrupted what will may ensures his survival, even if his technique may seem obsolete, too harsh or inappropriate for the moment to the others. Cool or virtuous must be only who can afford to be. I appreciate your humor, good advices and even your Science Fiction scenario, but I’m hard stuck in my point of view.

Why is so much emphasis put on the possibility of your hand slipping up the blade when talkin about stabbing a living creature?
