Had a good afternoon in the smithy.
I cleaned things up a bit, since Chris from Yorktown ( knifemaker87) is coming over next weekend.
Then i got set up to do the HT on the naginata blade. I got to thinking, why just do one blade.....when you can do the whole batch sitting in the corner of the work room

. So, I did
seven sword blades, and two tanto blades

.I love to forge them, but always put off finishing them (Sam, you wouldn't know anything about that...would you

).The stack has grown over the last year, so I'm glad to get the HT done. They are:
Matching katana , wakizashi, and tanto - done in 1300 layer damascus. All are thin and light.
Naginata done in 1300 layer, solid and strong.
rapier blade in 1084
small cutlass blade forged from an antique file about 6 years ago ( talk about putting off finishing things!), light and fast.
short sword in 1095
shoto-wakizashi in 1095
Tanto in 1084
All came out just about completely straight:thumbup:. Pulled them out after 6-10 seconds and gave them a couple whacks on the anvil with my wooden Swacker and they were dead straight, then back to cool down.
They are sitting in the oven on the first temper, at 400F .
They won't be all completed ( lots of hours at the Togi Dai to come now) but I'll probably bring them up with me

.
