Thanks Kevin, I'm planning on making it there this year, if I get back from
Washington state in time!

G2,

Man I hope you make it. Would love to eye your work in person! Bring some show'n'tell!

I only have a few things, between now and then I'll be on the road so won't have
any time to make anything :( but be sure to look me up there!
G2

Well that sucks but I'll make sure and meet up with ya at some point. Hope to see you there!

Not too worry, I'll most likely be wearing this one for sure;

and my wife's uncle will have some fixed blade sheaths with his knives that
he'll show off or sell on Sunday, back in the day when I did fixed blade sheaths,

Well, yea..you live like an hour away don't you? Lucky bastid....but I get 6 hours of Stacy time....so there! :D

Well, TECHNICALLY an hour and a half, but who's counting :) . I'll have the forge ready and lit though, i'll be in the upper main forge building (probably working on my polearm hehe).

6 hours of Stacy time!?!? Now that's no fair :(.

That poor fool doesn't have any idea what he's in for ! :D:eek:
Pole arm blade gets the HT today.
Then I have to start carving the 5 foot long tsuka.:grumpy::(
Stacy

Will do; don't expect any laws-of-physics-defying 50 foot no-spin throws from me though, I'm still stuck in the 15 ft (20 if I'm lucky) range.

Had a good afternoon in the smithy.
I cleaned things up a bit, since Chris from Yorktown ( knifemaker87) is coming over next weekend.
Then i got set up to do the HT on the naginata blade. I got to thinking, why just do one blade.....when you can do the whole batch sitting in the corner of the work room:). So, I did seven sword blades, and two tanto blades:D.I love to forge them, but always put off finishing them (Sam, you wouldn't know anything about that...would you:p;)).The stack has grown over the last year, so I'm glad to get the HT done. They are:
Matching katana , wakizashi, and tanto - done in 1300 layer damascus. All are thin and light.
Naginata done in 1300 layer, solid and strong.
rapier blade in 1084
small cutlass blade forged from an antique file about 6 years ago ( talk about putting off finishing things!), light and fast.
short sword in 1095
shoto-wakizashi in 1095
Tanto in 1084

All came out just about completely straight:thumbup:. Pulled them out after 6-10 seconds and gave them a couple whacks on the anvil with my wooden Swacker and they were dead straight, then back to cool down.

They are sitting in the oven on the first temper, at 400F .

They won't be all completed ( lots of hours at the Togi Dai to come now) but I'll probably bring them up with me:cool:.
Stacy

Bad news boys... I may not make it this year :(

Cash is real tight, and I may not have the funding on time. I called and asked if they would hold me a spot, and the gentleman I spoke with saud he would see what he could do. Given the annually increasing attendance, I may not get my check in on time.

I should be able to gather the money by the end of next (not this coming) week, but I'm just not entirely sure that'll be fast enough.

Wish me luck!

Patrick no biggy, that dude on your website, WHEW that's a hard act to follow!~

Stacy, you fink:mad::D I cannot wait to meet you in person and be extremely humbled by your work :foot::cool:

Dan, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

Stacy you rock! I look forward to being humbled in person.
What scale? :D

Dan, you have to be there to continue teaching it forward (oh yea I also want to see what you've come up with. what you did in your first year was outstanding.)

Sam, do I want to know what the heavy object is?
is it heavier than my hammer? :D

Can't wait!

Well, I'm on a major bummer. I won't be able to make it this year.

I was really looking forward to this event, their is always great people around, many of who, are as talented as the demonstrators.

I'm sure you will all have a great time, wish I were able to be there with you.

I'll probably be there about 12 noon :D, if anyone shows up early.

We get there usually a little early, there are a lot of people leaving that
were from the week, doing what ever, still cleaning up and all.

I travel with my wife's uncle, Warren Strout, he's been going ever since they
started, I think he only missed one year due to a wedding and even then
tried to sneak down but couldn't make it ;)
