Hey Bear Claw, how do you like that Blastmatch? I've got one but never really put it to serious use. I like the Strikeforce better but usually just go with a LMF Army rod and one of my strikers.

I like it a lot. It puts out some serious sparks, enough that I could ignite Landmann firestarters through the plastic when I review them.

I also like that it can be used one handed.

I have seen reports of them breaking though I haven't had one break yet.

Bryant was dead on. I call the first a 'knife lanyard knot', but boatswain's lanyard works for me too. Just a variation of a Carrick bend. And the barrel knots of course make great little stopper knots or can be used for a double fisherman's.
