First aid?

No problem I don't see you as being argumentative at all. We really need to define what kinda first aid we are talking about here. I am willing to bet that 90% of the audience for this thread has no one shooting at them on daily basis. The steps are there but one needs training to know when to throw them out the window. For example in an amputation you are probably going to go right to the tourniquet and the quick clot, for a head wound don't use the tourniquet :D.

I agree with you. You need to know all of them up front. I think everyone should take some kind of course on this kind of stuff. I agree that there are probably not many out there being shot at and that is good. The classes I have been to tell you things like that. They will tell you if the limb is missing or hanging by a thread then you just jump to a tourniquet. It is just good info for everyone to know.

On a side note. If I don't like the guy and he has a head wound, can I use a tourniquet?:D

I have no problem looking at trauma in an accident. What turns my stomach is watching surgeries. I blow right by the medical channel on TV because the easiest way to get me light headed is to watch them do a simple elbow surgery or something. With that said, it doesn't bother me at all to watch them do that same stuff on me. Just can't stand watching it done on another person.

Man I really thought I was the only one! I can gut a deer and never blink an eye but surgery has always made me light headed and queasy.

I've been working at a vets office for a little over a year now and I have desensitized myself for the most part. I go in an watch surgery now.

This is a great thread and I'm populating an amazon wish list with kit contents thanks to y'all.

CTSoutDad: First off, thanks for the info. Second: do you think the QC with Collodial Silver offers better protection from infection?

It definitely does. The Sport versions of the product are not gauze though, they're essentially a mesh beanbag that you put in/on the wound. I carry a couple of these in addition to the QC gauze so we have the appropriate treatment for different types of wounds.
