Just got my first custom Emerson, and I'm so stoked! What a beauty this one turned out to be! A fantastic knife! The longer blade of this CQC-14 LB really looks great on this handle. It's really a shame that a production version will not be made.
Now here are the pics of my new catch, side-by-side with a production CQC-14 for comparison for those members who haven't had the chance to handle a custom Emerson yet.

That looks so nice!!! look at that beefy locking liner!!! How come normal Emersons aren't as bad ass as this one!! The materials can't be THAT much more expensive for an extra mm or two of steel for the lock liner....

I just cleaned up the knife. I polished the screws and cleaned up the micarta. Also, I had some time, so I was able to set-up better a slightly better light set-up and took some more pics.

0.1" liner.

why don't they make the production knives to this spec? I'd pay 30 more dollars a knife for a thicker liner.

Give the man a call and ask him. He may be interested in your input and you may be interested in his input.

Thats a cool knife, congrats.

I'm itching for a new custom now with all these "my new custom threads":D

because the thickness of the liner lock has very little to do with the strength of said lock thats why & if you knew WTF you would understand that & quit bashing EKI liner locks..

i wonder how many EKI's, custom and production, you have actually had & what your agenda is..........................

also wanted to add before i was sidetracked thats a good looking '14 i hadnt seen the long one yet, i have never really been into '14s as its legal to carry up to 5.5" in TX and i like big knives so the shortest i carry is ~ 3.5 or so but i like the looks of that '14.

now if i lived were longer stuff wasnt cool the std '14 would be one of my top choices, that or a spyderdco 'lil temperance, if i could find one anyway at not too bad of a price.

I'm willing to bet its not many

I mean, I'm not what you would call a "collector" of knives. I'm more of a user. If you don't respect my opinion because I don't have 100 EKI's, then I would ask you how many of your Emersons do you put to actual hard use? And i'm not talking about cutting tape and boxes and that other BS that most knife collector call "use" of knives.

If I see the linerlocks on production Emersons as a weakness, I dont see why my opinion is not as legitimate as someone who has 100 Emersons that they keep in their closet with all their other "tacticool" gear.

Just for reference, most people say that Kabars are super tough knives and watever and would laugh if I considered them crappy. I just took a Kabar KBD1 out to the forest on a trip and used it to build a shelter as part of a survival training program. The thin "rat tail" tang totally twisted on me when I was chopping down a medium size tree leaving the knife useless. So most of you guys that keep these knives and stuff as part of collection and never let them see the light of day or any abuse, don't judge me because I raise a legitimate complaint.

*sniff sniff* What's that smell? I can't quite place it. Smells like a... wait, no..... yes... troll?

I love that knife, Death's Head- that's a sweet score. The more Emerson Customs I see, the more I like 'em.
