First Emerson custom: CQC-14 Long Blade vs. CQC-14 Production ~ picture review

The liner thickness is something that seems to pop up every once in a while and pretty much the same things are said time and again.
I do think how you say something rather than what you say makes the difference in how one is recieved though.

I have production EKIs from the 90s right up to new 09 pieces. They all have
different liner thickness ranging from what I would call chunky to rather thin looking.
Its not a big deal IMO but someone can try and make it into one if they want, same as they can anything really.

heck they can all vary custom and production, i simply dont think it matters a whole lot, now given a choice i would want the thicker, but if i liked a certain EKI and it happened to have the thin i wouldnt let that deter me from getting it, a good example was the custom '8 i had with the thin liner, at that time (~'02 or so) most if not all the customs had the thin liner, i didnt let the liner thickness keep me from choking up IIRC $800 for it and it worked just fine.

After all is said and done, I'd prefer a thicker liner, and I would make the assumption that most people interested in a custom Emerson would prefer the same. Just look at the custom Emersons presently being sold on the various online knife shops. Usually "thick liner" is in bold fonts or all caps.
But if that meant that I could get a good deal on a custom Emerson with a thinner lock, I wouldn't hesitate buying one. Especially from a knife maker that solidly backs his knives such as Mr. Emerson. He'll fix and/or refinish any of his knives in a few weeks for a small fee.

I don't see the harm in someone expressing an opinion of wishing for thicker. I do see the harm in some pouncing on that to claim it is bashing which is where I see this thread first showing that its getting combative. I also don't understand the mentality that just because someone voices an opinion contrary to your own that some want to shout troll or acuse one of having an agenda just to shut him up and derail the thread.

Quite a home-run, Mr. Mod. Thanks for leveling the field.

First to the op I have to say that is one great looking blade, and if EKI made it into one of their regular production models ( and I hope one day they will) I would buy it. I know the CQC-14 was a production model but I'm talking about the long blade.
As far as the liner lock size. I don't really see the difference between the custom and my CQC-15. Maybe it's just my eyes
