Does anyone have a picture of a Kershaw knife from 1974?

Sigh... It never fails with KAI threads. Stop being so defensive, if someone says it's ugly or they don't like the way it looks and they should have done different, let them (whether you agree or not). Other brands get criticized all the time, "Spydercos are ugly, Axis lock springs break, CRKT Hi Jinx sucks".... But you rarely see all out arguing and personal attacks from such comments...And with KAI, it's always the same five or so members who take offense to anything negative. These high end knives should not be free from honest opinions, there are many high end items from cars to guns that have features I wish were different. We're not talking everyday standard items here. I personally like the Ruby and hope to get one BTW, surprised by the price though (please don't attack me as I assumed it would be $300 tops). Anyhoo, until the extremist fanatics accept that a public forum will have varying opinions from the general public, things will remain the same here. Here is a solution: Get a hold of each other's info and start a private chat, it should weed out opinions and criticisims that you cannot accept without getting all bent out of shape. You are just as guilty if not more so for things going sour in these threads in my opinion.

Sorry for the wall of text but I'm sick of it. I recall the Kai subforum outright banning criticism at one point...It didn't help. Stop...whining...about...the whiners... Try that :p

It is ok for people to not like a knife, or the design on a knife, or whatever.

Tell me what good is served by popping your head into a thread and saying "I don't like it" or "that looks like fast and furious" etc.

What good comes of that?

You don't like it? Fine, your all good, since nobody will EVER force you to buy one or even have to look at one. You see Ruby (or whatever you don't like) in a thread title, move on! It's really simple.

However, many people nowadays think their opinion is so important (re-read the participation trophy comments) that their opinion MUST BE HEARD. That is all I can think of as the reasoning behind this nonsense.

Additionally, when it is brought to the person's attention, they don't like it. Hmmmm. Interesting.

Now, if someone has a specific thing that would be useful for someone else to know, such as the flipper cuts into your finger because it is sharp, as an example, now that is good and helpful criticism.

NOBODY is saying that it is forbidden to criticize, but rather that some things are best left unsaid.

However, there is little ability here to learn or understand it seems, and so yea, another Kai fanboy thread of whining for those who cannot comprehend.

Here is your trophy.

So which is it bub., cuz it seems like you are baiting and trolling...you seem to be adding no relevant input other than the fact that you personally dont like the labeling, otherwise all you do is attack those who have expressed interest in the knife. How bout I stop by your house and shit all over the things you personally enjoy or excited about. Criticism is one thing, being a troll and an asshole are another. Each time a threat about a KAI LE is started on BF lately some douchebag has to come in and just add a nonsensical post about how silly everyone else is for liking it. may as well shut this one down too, because all certain BF members seem to do lately is drop trow and crap on KAI....you think you would have something better to do....go buy a gerber and shut the f__k up....

I NEVER attacked anyone in any of my posts on this thread. A little sarcasm? sure. I simply expressed my opinion of a knife and that I thought it was too gaudy. That was it. Everything else I have said was in defense of that opinion. I have not accused anyone of being silly for liking it. If you like it, good for you. It is your taste, your opinion..... WTF!?!?!! What exactly did I do that was so wrong or inappropriate? for me saying I don't like the looks of a knife I have been called a troll, nonsensical, ignorant, asshole and douchebag. Heck, someone even insulted my parents. point out one post of mine where I outright insult anyone and I will apologize completely because that is not what this forum is about.
Can we please return to the actual subject. My opinion of which has not changed.

Haha! Those Mustang IIs were great. I still see a King Cobra occasionally at a show.

I guess I should run up to them when I see them next time and tell the owner how much I don't like them, and how ugly they are.

Pete Kershaw left Gerber n 74, and he teamed up with Kai in 77 I believe.

I would be interested in seeing 74/75 KErshaws myself.

Let me elaborate...

you have made 10 posts in this thread today....most of them say the same thing. You dont like the anniversary lettering on the knife, you think its overpriced....thats fair. When others reply with what they feel is good about the knife, you jump back in and say the same thing.....you dont like it, we get it. Your opinion does not make you right, nor does it negate the opinion of others. You made your point in the first post, maybe a second is warranted. 10 posts is trolling plain and simple. Others are trying to have a conversation about what they like, share your opinion if you like and move on unless you have something else to ADD to the conversation.

It looks like some people are going for a record in getting threads shut down. If this continues, custom "Ruby" infractions are going to handed out accordingly. If you do not want to join the discussion, then simply find another thread to grace with your insight. This is not going to be a recurring request, but the last one. Behave in a civil manner or eat some chiclets, your call.

Cant wait for someone to get a hold of one and do a review with a size comparison of say the 0562 so I can get an idea of how big it is.

That knife looks like it was pimped by the same people who worked on the Fast & Furious movies. And for 4 bills?!? Blech! Too bad. That design deserved to get a finish with some class.
Calling the product of the in-house design team's hard work, classless. Sounds like an insult to me, and of course it's trolling.

I don't care what the reason is. TACKY IS TACKY! It could' have been done so much better. The only thing missing on that thing is diamond studs and the hydraulic system in the pivot so the blade can "bounce" open like an El Camino!
Calling the product of the in-house design team's hard work, tacky. Making stupid jokes (and I use the term "joke" loosely, since they aren't at all funny), with clear intent to bother people. Trolling.

Why, because I don't like it? There is no vitriol, no baiting and no insults or personal attacks. I am expressing my opinion. Apparently it is a valid opinion since you are not defending its looks just the reasoning behind them. This is not the Kai forum. I am allowed to express my displeasure in regards to the fact that Kershaw has taken a really nice design (their own, I might add) and turned it into a NASCAR knife.
More baiting and trolling. The "This is not the Kai forum", again, implies that what you're saying would be found insulting and attacking Kai fans.

LOL! I know I always need to take 3 turns to go right!
You are absolutely correct there. Fanboys are most likely going to buy it and stick it on a shelf. I was just really disappointed considering how much I liked the design. That plus the fact I was born in July 1974. So the whole 40 Ruby idea really appealed to me.

B.T.W. What's a dale jr?:p
^This is a stupid nonsense. Nothing much else to say here.

Quick, look up!! Did you see it? No? Oh too bad, because that was my point. You took my comparisons waaay to literally. Lets see if we can add some pepper to your grain of salt. In regards to the Movie and NASCAR references, I was pointing out that Kershaw's labeling on this particular knife (the design of which I like. as I said) is too over the top and has nothing to do with advertising. About the inciting comment. I stated in that same post that I was expressing an opinion and the thread should not be closed for that. As opposed to it being in a makers forum where they have every right to remove a comment that they do not like. It had nothing to do with Kai per se. Hopefully that helps to connect the dots a bit for you
Finally as far as my LOL, I was honestly acknowledging Bad_Juju. Who was attempting to add some brevity (at least I think he was) with his comments. I hope this explains things for you.
Something can't be taken "too literally." That's how you spell it, by the way. "Too." And again, how is it "over the top"? What is the top? Three engraved emblems, all of which are different, is over the top?

And the bold parts are clearly patronizing and insulting. My response was to your provocation, and ridiculous jokes. You continue to troll and act like an asshole. How else is one supposed to act when antagonized by someone like you?

The fact that you posted this is a complete contradiction the the entire point you were attempting to make. And insulting others for expressing their opinions is just icing on the cake. But I do want to thank you ever so much for doing what you were raised to do and keeping your mouth shut...... oh waitaminute!
^That sounds a lot like an attack back at someone who was responding to your rude behavior.

So, those apologies are due.

Yes, there are a number of Kai fans that post in a thread to respond to the moronic insults that get thrown around at a company we happen to love. A company with employees that happen to be friends in many cases. Sure, everyone has the right to blah blah blah. That doesn't make it any less rude or disgusting. It's stupid behavior that not one of you would have the balls to do at the Kai booth at a show. Not one of you.

Neither I or any of the other Kai fans go into other makers' subforums and crap all over the threads where people are excited about a knife. I don't like a lot of knives, and I don't bother posting "LOL!" and other stupid nonsense about them.

I'll keep it simple for the two negative nellies...this kinda passive aggressive nonsense is better kept on Oprah.

No one wants to hear your nonsense.

What model was the first Kershaw made in Japan in 1974 by I think KAI?

The aftermath of the 1973 gas crisis brought some real doozies masquerading as cars: AMC Pacer, AMC Gremlin, Chevrolet Chevette and Ford Pinto!

This... All Day....

We don't even go into other general discussion threads about knives we don't care for.

I happen to appreciate hearing all opinions on a subject here in the General Forum! Even opinions that differ from mine.

Maybe KAI can be lured back to host a subforum, and the KAI fans will be able to talk about their knives there unmolested.
