First Look - Kershaw Piston

That's a BIG +1 on the rear corners. That's what turned me off about the large Sebenza 21 and it's rear corner is mild in comparison.

That rear, spine corner, creates a a wicked hot spot in the palm - and this isn't a handle that will protrude past the grip of your hand - that would probably be a deal breaker for me now that you've mentioned it....bummer :(

It needs rounding off on the top rear corner like the Kershaw Knockout Proto pic shows (just the part that will stick in your palm)

I kind of thought the same. I'm not picky about a lot of things when it comes to knives, but a sharp corner on the butt of the handle really puts me off. I've got a couple of really nice knives that I don't really use because of that. I may run into that more then others because my hands are so big (not meaty, just long like monkey fingers :D) I think that if they contoured the rear upper corner to run parallel to the circumference of the frame screw it would go a long way in improving the comfort and not change the ascetics too much.

This one is the best yet IMO. Another poster said it, but PLEASE no large cutouts for the lock release. I've come to love my fingers and would like to keep them in one piece.

Love the look of this one. I really wish this had the same sub framelock setup as the Knockout. I'm extremely interested in that lock.

This issue is already being addressed. Too late for the protos, but it hsould be better in production.

Thomas,
how big is this relative to the Zing?

Really big difference in size when compared to the Zing:

compared to a Shallot:

...and to a Blur:

The blade shape and grind reminds me of my beloved NRG II, with the NRG being a hollow grind and the Piston being a Saber (if I'm see it correctly).
Was the NRG discontinued to make way for the Piston?

My first impression too. I love this one. Kershaw, you definitly have a buyer here!:)

i too am liking these preview posts. and good idea with karambit idea.
i am not surprised that this knife is awesome, they all are.

IMHO it looks very similar to one of the finest grinds ever, the Walter Brend #2. It is not idenical but similar enough to be very appealing and a nice price.
