First Look - Kershaw Piston

I have to say none of the other new models you've posted in the last few days have really piqued my interest, but this one caught my eye. Aggressive, but still classy and understated. I'll be looking for this one soon.

will this knife only be available with A/O?

A/O might be a problem for me (and many others) with state laws. i don't think im willing to take a chance EDC'ing an A/O knife because there is a good chance it will thought of as a gravity knife or switchblade.

Finally a Kershaw that will work well for Lefty's. I am buying this 100%. Even the clip is ambi. Now I finally am going to start buying these awesome knives.

Finally a Kershaw I love the blade shape to and the overall look. Great job on not a wacky large clip. Could be in my collection when released.

I would prefer the grippiness of G-10.

I'll second that motion, please.

Another minor consideration please is whether the scale design would snag on the pocket.

Either way, I'm definitely going to grab a Piston. I am sorta late to the Kershaw game, but am doing what I can to make up for it.

I want the Piston. I used to be a mostly Benchmade guy, but these new Kershaws are getting to me. Right now, Kershaw seems to be the most innovative of all the major knife companies.

From these three protos I like the Piston most. Just hope that production version will have different pocket clip. Somehow it falls out. Maybe too thin or wrong shape and position...

That is a fantastic knife. Can't wait to get one for my son (Actually I'll probably get 2 - one for me, too - but him first.). Been looking for an at least 3.5" flipper with that blade shape and high quality. Loving the piston.

I saw Nutnfancy's Kershaw coverage at Shot Show, and it looks better there. I'll buy it.

I'm confused, how would anyone know if the clip isn't going to function?

Sorry for my imperfect english:o

I mean that the design of the pocket clip doesn't match the design of the handle. I have no doubt that it would function well, just it could look better imho:)

Looks good.
What's the thickness of the blade steel? IMHO .156" would be nice.

I echo the sentiments of others on preferring G-10 scales though. Maybe something with a slight 3-d design and a creative texture. I have been pleasantly surprised at the durability of the finish on the black aluminum handles you guys produce, but grippy G-10 seems more practical. (Especially in various colors - Black, Coyote, light tan like the old Tyrade, Orange, etc..)

i also saw nutnfancy's coverage of SHOT 2011, the piston is now on my must buy list.

does anybody have an idea when this will be available?

The lady that did that booth review with nutnfancy should get a bonus.

I think kershaw is my #1 favorite knife company. Thomas gets to posts here on the forum so fast!!!!

I don't even think some one like him needs to even post here, but he does and few others do.

As an update, we have opted on switching to G-10 as the handle material on both the Piston and the Knockout. Pricing will not change on either model.

As to an ETA, look for them late 2nd quarter.

Let's not get carried away. :)

With regards to posting, I and others can't seem to help ourselves.
